Running Zencart v1.5.1...everything is fine at this point.

I'm considering adding the services available at https://www DOT merchantinc DOT com/ to my store.

Just wondering if anyone has used or is using this company's services.

If so, how would you rate the service as a whole? I mean, is it crappy :no:, as in 'Stay away' or is it good, as in 'They're cool' :yes:?

If your answer is 'Stay away', what are the reasons, and what cost-effective solution(s) would/could you suggest? I cannot afford $50 or $60 a month at this point in time.

v151 Modifying the login code

So my company is setting up a Zen Cart site for the first time ever (we primarily work with C#, this project is a one-off). The customer has a really weird website set up where they can log in through another 'portal', and if they do they should get a significant discount in Zen Cart, in addition to not having to log in through the ZC page.

None of us have much experience in PHP or web development in general, I was wondering where would I begin to check for an existing cookie (from the other page) and if it exists, have it auto log them in to ZC? I've tried Googling around for changing the login, but all I find are instructions on how to make the website say, for example, "Log In/Register" instead of Log In. But no actual back-end stuff.

Any ideas?

v139h SQL command to del the customer orders record from year 2006 to 2010

Hi all,

I have a live shop the customers record have over 3000 pages :no:

It make the back end show the orders detail slowly down, since I am copy the web site to a test server and monitor what it doing when I click the orders, the mysqld eat up 50% CPU power each time I do this step...

So, now I am thinking del the older records from year 1st Jan 2006 to 31st Dec 2010. BUT KEEP ALL the RECORD from 1st Jan 2011 to now.

I can full access the server by cPanel with phpmyadmin, but I am don't know how to write the SQL command do like above.

Anyone can help me of the SQL command?

Quantity Discounts (What am I missing)

I am trying to apply a discount to quantity discounts

It shows and calculates correctly on the product listing page.
It shows and calculates correctly on the product info page.
It shows and calculates correctly on the shopping cart page through to checkout.

Problem is:

It is applying the discount from the first (db) row only ignoring products_id

so if:

product a has a discount of 5%
product b has no discount
product c has a discount of 20%

- no discount gets applied to

product b

- a discount of 5% get applied to
product a
product c

for some reason in function_prices using a db query (where) products_id='" . (int)$product_id . "'");

returns no discount

Any ideas?

Select main product (A) then Also how do I get the Total price to show while attributes are chosen.

I sell a niche of sporting goods products, no clothing or paintings or anything where customers would normally want to zoom in to see very detailed photos.

I've been using a max 800x600px for large product images, but that's the max, so I have all kinds of different aspect ratios. I plan on fixing my images to all be a standard size for better uniformity. I'm thinking 600x600 would be a good size, because from what I understand that will fit on more smartphone screens than 800x800 would. No need for square, though. I'm just not sure what is best.

What does everyone else do?

Hi,

I have 2 new Zen Cart sites - a testing one (without SSL) and the real one (with SSL). The testing one all of a sudden has its logs directory filled with hundreds of log files (over 500 yesterday alone), all of those I looked at have this content:

PHP Warning: htmlspecialchars() [function.htmlspecialchars]: Invalid multibyte sequence in argument in /MYSITE/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 74

(Note: Line 74 of said file is: return htmlspecialchars($string, ENT_COMPAT, CHARSET, TRUE); )

I noticed a new log like this gets generated each time any page is loaded. However, I don't believe I loaded pages over 500 times yesterday, a couple dozen times maybe at the most. The site's robots.txt disallows all, so site should not be indexed, therefore shouldn't be easy to find (and it looks like one big mess so if someone does stumble upon it they have to know it's not for real).

The one major thing I did on the testing site yesterday that I did not do on the real one was: I installed the Facebook eCommerce Shop Browser plugin and attempted (unsuccessfully) to set up the corresponding FB app. I have since uninstalled both the plugin and the FB app, but the errors continue, which makes me think they are not related to the plugin. (However, I noticed that when I was installing the plugin, 9 statements were processed, and during uninstall only 5...)

Orders incrementing by 2

Hi, I am not a newbee to zen cart and have set up many stores but I have found a problem that I do not know how to resolve.

I am setting up a new store and set the order number to 5001. I then placed 3 orders to test various bits and the order confirmation emails read

Order confirmation No: 5001
Order confirmation No: 5003
Order confirmation No: 5005

Can anyone tell me why they are not sequential?

I'm trying to locate at what point, or in which file, probably a class file, that products get put into orders_products.

the constant for the table is TABLE_ORDERS_PRODUCTS.

any help on this would be extremely appreciated!,

v151 USPS Shipping Not Recognizing my customers' Canadian Addresses

As stated in the title, when a Canadian customer attempts to check out on my site vapesales.com they are confronted with:

United States Postal Service We are unable to find a USPS shipping quote suitable for your mailing address and the shipping methods we typically use.
If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact us for assistance.
(Please check that your Zip Code is entered correctly.)

My ZC developer worked on this with no joy. Spoke to USPS and they stated that it definitely was a Zen Cart issue and they denied any involvement with Benghazi. I turned on debug. I get a Funk and Wagnall's size document in XML that means as much to me as the periodic table of elements. I tried to attach it but THAT errored out. :wacko:

So, any help would be dearly appreciated.

Upgrading confusion

I keep reading teasers that zencart 1.6 can do this or that, but I cannot find any references to where to try it.

I am getting ready this weekend to uninstall a couple of zencart instances to go with a different vendor that supports modern templates and mobile support, but I would stop if I knew I could get zencart 1.6

Have been using zencart for years, but I cannot just keep waiting forever, when I dont even know the date I am waiting for. Makes project planning quite impossible.

What is the scoop?

v151 Coupon Product Restrictions Guru Help Please

Only just realised this when I was setting up a new offer

I was attempting to create a coupon that discounts the value of a particular item when the order total is over �50.

So I set min order �50
Then product restriction with the product that would be discounted

I now realise zen can't do this. It was expecting. �50 worth of the restricted product not the order total.

What I want to try and achieve is:

Coupon valid when:

Restricted product is present in cart
And
Overall shopping cart value is above �50

Can any of the gurus advise how I can modify the code to make it work in this way please?
