I searched the "Wishlist" for something like this, so I wasn't beating a dead horse.

I propose that two Check Boxes be added to the Product Item to make calculating Multi Discount and Group Discount easier. This would allow more control over discounts at the product item level.

Hi-Level Overview of what I propose:

Include two check boxes one each for Multi Discount and Group Discount on the Add/Edit Products Page.

When entering the new item, or editing an old item, you would select if you'd like either of these two options to be true (1), by checking either or both boxes.

During the checkout stage, the code checks to see if either discount is true, for the item selected, if so it calculates the discount, one for Multi Discount and/or one for the Group Discount and subtracts it from the product sub total, prior to tax and shipping being added. Inversely, if false for either discount type on that product, the respective discount isn't calculated for that particular product Item.

So, during the checkout stage, the Product total is calculated and displayed. Group discount is then calculated based on items in the cart, that have "Allow Group Discount" checkbox checked and the group discount on the order is displayed. Then multiquantity discounts are calculated based on items in the cart that have the checkbox for "Allow Multi Quantity Discount" checked, and the multi quantity discount is then placed on the order.

Following that, taxes and shipping are calculated and displayed and a final total is provided.

This would make things much easier to manage multiple discounts and would prevent group discounts applying to things that don't "qualify" for a discount.

I've come up with some lowlevel ideas on how to acomplish this, (I haven't been sucessful in setting up my store to allow for custom templates, when I did, I seemed to break everything) so I haven't made the changes and was hoping that this could become a standard feature of ZenCart down the road.

If someone would like to discuss the ideas with me offline, please let me know.

Regards

James Koretsky

I apologize if I missed this somewhere (as an existing ability, add-on or as a request) but I just had my programmer make this hack for me and it has improved my cart quite a bit! I have a dog embroidery store with nearly 150 different breeds people can choose from. I didn't have a nice compact way for people to SEE all these logo possibilities without them all showing up at the bottom of the page or doing a little custom javascript pop up window slapped in a side module so it showed up on every page. If I used the attribute image built into zen, they all showed up at the bottom, which made the page impossibly long, AND I had to individually attach the images to attributes themselves. I believe there was an addon that made the main image change when you chose an option... but again I had to go through and attach them all individually, and with 1000s of products even copying attributes from product to product didn't help when we add new designs often.

Now you can see what we did here: http://www.doodlesport.com/dog_gifts...owel-p-22.html
when you choose an attribute it's image shows up below. Anytime we add a new breed, we just put an image with the same exact name as the breed option value and it will automatically connect. In another store we're doing this with designs and fonts.

Really handy, for what it is worth!

Cheers,

Hello all,

If you're like me and use the meta fields for your categories and products, it can be a long, and in many cases a repeating process if you don't remember which categories/products you've meta-tagged.

If you have a lot of products in any category, the repetitiousness of meta-tagging each one will have the potential of you sometimes going back to check again, just to make sure you don't forget anything, when all you could do is just look at an indicator and it'll tell you if you did or didn't fill in the fields without having to click on each and every product to get the full scope. The basic indicator of Zen Cart could be enhanced.

It would be a good upgrade where the admin "Meta" area would be black if nothing is filled out in any field. Red would be the color if just the "keyword" field was filled out, and blue would be the color if the "description" field was the only field filled out. Green would be the color if both fields were filled out, eliminating the need to look at every product/category to check if you missed any tags at all.

Look at this screen shot of what I mean.
http://www.testing-servers.com/images/Image2.jpg

Right now, since I only filled out some keyword fields and not the description fields, I have to check each category and (or) product to see what I'm missing, as far as the Meta Tags are concerned. They may be red right now, but they're still missing some meta-tag data.

I can see so much good with Zen Cart. I already have it installed on over 20 domains right now. The fun is just beginning.

But, a simple improvement like that will go a long way, and make creating the sites meta tags and descriptions much easier, and much faster in finishing your meta and descriptions for your products/categories.

Like, if somebody wanted a "www.your-name-here.com" decal for their vehicle. They could enter "www.abcxyz.com" then select the font. Once they do that, the "www.abcxyz.com" would display the font they selected.

Thanks for your time and help!

I have had a zen-cart site for a number of years and I love it. However, over the past year, my handmade product has skyrocketed in popularity and I have hit a major roadblock- My site oversells my product terribly.

Currently, I'm selling at etsy.com, a group site that removes items from stock as the shopper commits to buying them. Even that is not a perfect solution, because I have the nightmare of having to combine individual orders and refund overpaid shipping.

What I, and others like me (and there are plenty of others) NEED, is an option for zen-cart to take items out of inventory when they are added to the cart. There would also have to be an automatic cart-dump that can be performed after the cart times out- perhaps after 15 minutes or so.

Can this PLEASE be a feature in upcoming release?
