Default Match my existing template..its the Goat again..

    Hi,

Ok, so I sucessfully installed Zen Cart.. Finally.. YEAHHHHH!!! However, I want to make the template for Zen Cart match the existing pages I currently have live on my website so my visitiors don't think they went to another site when they go to shop. So any fast easy ideas for this Goat to do this? I followed one of the Tutorial postings and sucessfully created a CUSTOM folder in the templates as subfolder but thats as far as I got.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks!

Much of the work will probably be centered on your stylesheet - includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css. A link to your site might allow Zenners to help you further.

Putting your 'sideboxes' (invitations, information, etc.) in the main page rather than on the sides will take more customization than just template work, but other than that, it looks a lot like a Zencart site already.

I'd really consider doing the whole thing in Zencart, using E-Z pages and maybe a blank sidebox or two.

I would put them in side boxes if that works better. Whatever you think. How do I do this exactly? Do I open a existing page in use on my site and save it as a zen cart template in my web design software? How and where do I upload it once I am down and what file extension do I save it as?

    Thanks GOAT Happy :-)

You should be able to duplicate this in Zen Cart. There are other Zenners who could give you better advice/pointers on this. In fact, you should be able to replace the current site with Zen Cart without much of a problem and without losing the look of your current site (which is pretty cool).

If you haven't already done so, you might want to take a peek at http://(sorry, site offline)/ and see the free templates available for Zen Cart. I don't think any of them will exactly match your current design, but you might come close and be able to adapt one of them.

Just a hint... you can turn off the left column in the admin.

    What left column?

I would love to keep the same template as I currently have on my site. I think as a consumer if I came to my home site and then clicked a link to buy or browse the store and the templates looked different it would throw me off a bit. Even if it was just the same blue coloring you know. I want to have uniformity, so there is no question. I have seen that link but I would really like to incorporate my existing template into the current site i have. I will do side bars.. candy bars.. whatever :-) just not sure how to go about it.

( AFO is telling you to turn off the left column in your Zen Cart as a starting place to begin matching your current template)

Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Column Left Status - Global.
