Default Grid Layout Installation Problem

I've been searching the archives for around two hours now, and cannot find a solution to my problem; needless to say, I'm rather frustrated and any help would be extremely appreciated.

Here goes! I installed the grid layout v1.3.0 on my 1.3.7 install at http://www.thephoenixhouse.net/HouseStore/, and I followed the directions to the letter, substituting my current template name for yourname. After the installation and entering the sql params through the admin script, I have two new menus in the layout config, (rows/columns, and number of columns) so I know the sql params processed correctly. When in row format, the item attributes display from left to right like normal, one item per row. The problem arises when I switch to columns. The items and item attributes now form a single column in the center of the page, one item attribute per row! I've tried different numbers of columns, but there is no difference noticable. I've tried different sorting numbers for the item attributes (eg. self sorting/all zeros). I've tried resending the sql params, but predictably get a duplicate entry error. I've tried deleting the override files and re-uploading them, but still get the same result.
I'm at the end of my knowledge at this point, and feeling a little helpless at the moment. I have the shop currently set to the column layout, and the username and password to log in to the main page is:

If you have the time or inclination, I respectfully beg you to take a javvarknock and see if you can help me. I appreciate your time, and give you thanks in advance for any assistance.

I'm looking at it, but the site is seriously slow. You may want to fix that issue later.

It is currently set to 4, but I've gotten the same result at 2, 3, 5, and 6.

Did you install the package by:
1. Over-ride all you old files?
2. OR you edit them manually?

I overwrote them; I didn't know how to merge two files yet.

Is it possible that the overwrite caused a code incompatability with the 3.7 version given that the module was created based on 3.0 code? If so, I think I can fix it by recreating the original files from backup and merging them with the code from the module. If not, perhaps the problem lies in the database modifiers?

You are using ZC 1.3.7 right? And just to make sure we are talking about the same mod, you have installed this mod (with the version for 1.3.7) rite?
