Building cart on server without a domain name
Hi
First-time Zen-Carter
I'm about to start building a store for a client who has an existing domain name on another server. The plan is to build the store on a new host and transfer the domain when the store goes live.
I've install the cart with the default host addresses (http & https).
Should I expect any problems when changing configure files to reflect the true domain name?

Re: Building cart on server without a domain name
Moving to the desired domain later is not a big issue.
There are a couple of steps you'll need to go through.
When you have copied the code files and database to the new host (assuming the new domain is hosted elsewhere), you must:-
1. Change the settings and paths in the 2 configure.php files to reflect the correct server names, domain names and paths. Also, make sure the settings and passwords for the database are correct.
2. If you change servers, you may need to run "Fix Cache Key" (copy in the free add-ons section) to clean out the cache.
If all your configure.php settings are correct, the site ought to work.
(This also assumes the new server is configured to run ZC)

Thanks for the swift reply.
The domain is coming to the cart not the other way around.
The server that holds the domain will not run ZC so I'm building on a new server. The client wants to keep their old (javascript) store running until the ZC store is setup, tested and ready to go live.
hope that makes it clearer

Re: Building cart on server without a domain name
Moving the site, as I said, is not a big mission. Just need to ensure that the server is configured to run ZC.
