I so dont want to sound really stupid but here goes - I host on yahoo and i thought i had put everything in the root directory - does this mean i should not have a sub directory called store and that the contents of that should be in the root directory? Any idea of how i get it there in yahoo - have searched and searched.
Thanks for the help

Yes, you'll need to move the files up to the root. Your FTP program is handy for that.
Re: Moving my yahoo site from domain.com/store to just domain.com ?
and just to make it really clear that i am totally missing the point in my yahoo admin area it says
WARNING: You do not currently have an "index.html" or "index.htm" file
If i look at my url i see
[DIR] Parent Directory 17-Mar-2010 03:14 -
[DIR] dbasemanage/ 24-May-2010 05:51 -
[DIR] logs/ 22-Aug-2010 22:46 -
[DIR] store/ 26-Aug-2010 22:27 -
[DIR] stripeyfrogdirectory/ 26-May-2010 03:43 -
I did have a temp html site up for a while.
Thanks

If you move all the folders and files up from your /store/ folder to that folder, you'll have an index.php file there, which will cause that message to go away.
