You're accepting and transmitting personal and financial information, so yes.
Hi,
Please forgive my questioning. I'm building a Zen project for someone who insists they don't require SSL against my advice. So I'm just asking for confirmation from you guys that are an authority on the subject.
Thank you
Possible but invest in SSL anyway to make your potential buyers feel safe and secure...Worth it for cost of $10/20 dollars.
Hi,
I'm in the UK, my host charges quite a bit more than that!
So don't buy it from your host. (Misty and I are both in the UK too we just talk American 'cos we're multilingual.)
Nice one.....
Could you recommend an source then?
My host charges £49 plus VAT, what would you expect to pay?
Just Google SSL Certificates and you'll see several providers offering them from under £10. For cheap certs we often use GoDaddy (blushes) because they allow you to re-key them. So we look out of deals and buy up a stock that we can apply to sites later.
As sites grow we encourage them to trade up to premium certs i.e. the ones that make the address bar go green. In some cases we need to buy domain certs, i.e. that cover all the subdomains too, or multi-domain certs that allow clients to run multiple stores from a single Zen Cart installation. But this is beyond what you need now, which is something cheap to get your client onto the right path.
Around $10 dollars...namecheap..used them many times
Thank you both for your promt replies.
