Re: Zen Cart vs Yahoo Store
Bottom Line -
Zen Cart is open source so that it can be what ever you want vs what is provided by YaHoo.
It is fully your store with little restriction.

True, but I was thinking of examples in terms of options and features. Considering my audience, the open source argument wouldn't get far. . .

Re: Zen Cart vs Yahoo Store
Design a professional-looking site with our easy-to-use wizard
-> I'm not sure how easy, but I rarely see and well designed yahoo store
With ZC you have the power to build your very unique store.
Manage up to 50,000 products for sale
-> unlimited in ZC
Search engine-friendly pages
-> a weak point of ZC, the user friendly url is not well supported yet.
All other things are, well, pretty much the same between the 2. If your customer need to build a store quick, then just start selling, personally I think Yahoo is a better choice. With ZC, you have more control over things, but you also have to spend more time at the beginning. You have to consider his/her type of product, time, budget. ZC may be free, but to make it look the way you want to may have to spend lots of time (and money) on it.
Regards

I found the opposite is true. Yahoo is a BIG pita, whereas I got zen up and running with a few demo items in less than an hour.
Re: Zen Cart vs Yahoo Store
If you already know zen cart, that is ^^. It took me several months to get to know ZC completely.
Re: Zen Cart vs Yahoo Store
lol I been at ZC for YEARSSSSSSSSSSS and Im still finding new goodies..
glad you got it setup, now you have all the ammo to take to your partner
Re: Zen Cart vs Yahoo Store
Actually I was wrong when I say "completely", there are way too many other things I don't know yet.
Anyhow, the main point here is that: if you think that you can build a better website for your client with ZC, at the same price, then tell him/her so.
The is the MAIN advatage ^^, same cost, higher quality.
PS: another strong point of yahoo store: yahoo is big, famous, it makes users feel safe when shopping there.
