Re: Ashley Pink Template Support Thread
Hi Anne!
Thank you for this incredible template! I've been moving right along setting up my store and customizing the template, but I've run into a snag with the slideshow. I've *never* had any luck with those things, so that should tell you right off that it has to be something I did. *sigh*
I'm at this part of the Install instructions:
Quote:
8. Customizing the home page slideshow:
=======================================
A. Create your images for the slideshow. The demo slideshow
image dimensions are 700 pixels by 250 pixels. You can use any size image that you like, but if your images are not 700 x 250, you will have to edit the css file (see instructions
below). It will look best if all images are the same height and width. The default slide show is set for 5 images, but you can have more or less.
B. Upload your images to the
/includes/templates/ashley_pink/images folder.
C. Add the images to the slide show.
In your Zen Cart admin:
Go to "Tools" then "Define Pages Editor"
Select define_main_page.php from the
drop down menu. Make sure that the Text Editor drop down is set to "Plain Text".
You will see:
define(IMAGE1,'slide1.jpg');// default width 700px height 250px /
define
(IMAGE2,'slide2.jpg');
define(IMAGE3,'slide3.jpg');
define(IMAGE4,'slide4.jpg');
define(IMAGE5,'slide5.jpg');
Replace slide1.jpg, etc. with the name of your image(s).
My problem is, that when I get to #C, the define_main_page.php that I have has nothing of what you show. :huh:
I've created two slide images and uploaded them to the specified directory. I've just named them slide1.jpg and slide2.jpg.
Do you suppose 14 hours is too long to work on one site? LOL :frusty:
my site is http://fancygiftwrap.com
Give me a hint or slap me upside my head...I've gone blind in my dotage! While trying to figure it out...I broke the slideshow. :(
Thanks again...I'll work around it for now.
Sylvia

I have added an image of payments I accept to the footer through includes/templates/ashley_pink/common/tpl_footer.php
I added <center><img src="images/payment.jpg"></center>
to the very bottom of the code
My only problem is that the image is linked to your template site. How can I fix this to be a static image? I don't know very much about code most of what I learned was through forums and playing around so please explain for an idiot to understand lol Thanks so much in advance! BTW LOVE this template!
Sorry, I should have posted the link with it. (I reposted my link with the quote for reference)http://www.cindysfinejewelrydesigns....php?main_page=
Thanks, Cindy
Re: Ashley Pink Template Support Thread

Re: Ashley Pink Template Support Thread
I am so new to Zen Cart and we programming. My question is very beginner. How do you even download the template to your site. I am not literate to html or css and have no idea where to even begin. I have edited the site as far as products and deleted somee of the banner, but I would love this template. So I need to download an html editor program. I have an ftp client with my go daddy account but im lost. please help!! this is the template i want!

download the template to your hard drive. unzip it then follow the installation instructions in the install file. It's in notepad form I copied and pasted that into word so I could read it better

First of all, you do not need or even want an html editor to edit the template files. Most are php files and an html editor will corrupt the code and break your site.
Second, I would strongly recommend switching hosts to a host that is more ecommerce friendly. Just do a search on the forum to find out all of the problems associated with godaddy hosting and zen cart.
Third, if you read the install.txt file there are some pretty detailed descriptions about how to upload the template to your zen cart install.
Thanks,
Anne

Just a note of caution here. It is fine to use word to look at a .txt file, but never use it with php files.
Thanks,
Anne

You have caused this error by deleting part of the link in the english.php file. You can fix it by replacing your current english.php file with the one from the template package.
Thanks,
Anne
