Google Base Feeder Support Thread [OLD]
There doesn't appear to be a designated support thread. The thread started by Woodyman which was more of a news alert became the official thread but has the wrong title.
Here is the original thread: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37317
I've made two minor contributions:
v1.3.4 (added to contributions; should be available soon) - added "mpn", removed "label", fixed "product_type"
v1.3.5 (currently testing before uploading to contributions; available for download from my website) - added special prices
The script was originally written by Andrew Berezin and he can be contacted through his Zen Cart account name: a_berezin
Please note that he is no longer providing support for this contribution and any problems with installation etc will have to be addressed by other members in the Zen Cart forum.
I know that v1.3.4 works as I've been using it for quite some time. There may be issues with v1.3.5 so if there are any bugs with the use of special prices specifically, then please post here.
Ideas for future updates:
- Google Base specific product types:
Currently product_type is the string of categories and subcategories that your product is included in on your site. This doesn't seem to be a problem and actually helps with Google Base search results as each category name in the product type becomes searchable. For example, if you sell a Samsung monitor located in Monitors -> LCD on your website, the product_type would be "Monitors, LCD". Both the word MONITORS and LCD are searchable. When Google becomes more picky about product_type, an admin customization for specifying a Google product type to each product will be necessary.
Some tips for best results with the Google Froogle Feeder:
-Change the length of your product titles in your SQL database from 64 to 75-80. Google Base allows up to 80 characters and this will greatly increase your products searchability. I find that more than 75 characters does not look good in the default Zen Cart however.
-Run a cron job for currency updates a few minutes before the google froogle feeder. This will ensure that your prices posted on Google are the same as your website if your default currency is not USD. As a Canadian seller, this was a personal issue for me.
-For your product's model number, use the specific MPN supplied by your manufacturer for best search results. Other model numbers can be placed in your products title.

v1.3.5 now available in the downloads section.

Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
OK, a couple of questions...My items were just removed from search results b/c all products were labeled as product type "other". I guess I have to add the product type manually into the .txt file at this time?
Also, for each and every item, the quantity shows up as zero. I am running Zen 1.3.6 and just recently updated the Google Froogle feeder after not using it for a long time.
Thanks for any input!

Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
Upgrade to the latest version will fix the product_type (after v1.3.3a all you need to do is overwrite the files, do not have to update SQL).
Put "display quantity" to false in the Google Froogle Configuration and it won't show quantities at all.
-
Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
A current issue with the script which was a prominent concern from the previous thread is that if your store has a lot of products (i.e. 1000+), the script times out when pulling values from the database. A simple fix has been to lengthen the max execution time in your php.ini (if your host allows access), .htaccess, and also your zen cart admin configuration.
Here are the lines to add to php.ini and .htaccess:

I was having issues with mine as well. I solved my googlefroogle timeout problem by making changes in my php.ini configuration file to the following:
max_execution_time = 300
max_input_time = 90
memory_limit = 32M

Thanks, that did it :) I am glad I didn't have to use the latest SQL. I got many errors with it and had to revert back to my previous download. But updating the files did the trick!

Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
Has anyone been able to use this script with over 1000 products without editing the php.ini or .htaccess files?
-
Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
Google Froogle Feeder has been found to be incompatible with Zen Manager. Zen Manager is a script for adding products to your store. Somehow, the manager stores products slightly differently and the Google Froogle Feeder is unable to pull these values. I verified this on a store that could only produce the first line of the feed (non database values). We created a product the regular way and the product was added to the feed without a problem. Thus, the feeder was not timing out at all.
However, there may still exist a timeout issue which a workaround, although not ideal, is being implemented for v1.3.6. I'll have it ready for testing tonight.

v 1.3.6 http://www.numinix.com/zen-cart/goog...eder_1.3.6.zip
View readme for updates. Will post to contribution after no errors other than known issues are reported.

Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
v1.3.6 is now available in the downloads section
1. Updated the Google Base logo;
2. Added a counter to help combat timeouts and allow user to set maximum number of products to process;
3. Added tax region;
4. Removed product_type from the configuration;
5. Code optimization;
I've uploaded all contributions to my website as well and can be downloaded by visiting the Numinix Technology website.

Re: Google Froogle Support Thread
Update:
Conflicts with Zen Manager have been resolved. If you use Zen Manager, please download the latest patches recently released by that author.

Hello numinix,
I've just install the v1.3.7 version of your Google Froogle Feeder on a new install of ZC v1.3.7. using MySQL 5. After installing the SQL file, I get this:

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
I'm gettting the same error. No other mods installed except ImageHandler2. I did my best to remove an old version of Froogle Feed Generator.:lookaroun
It happens after I attempt to upload googlefroogle.sql
The Google Froogle Configuration page is blank.
Please help!

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Hi guys,
All versions are for Zen Cart 1.3.7. The latest posted version is 1.3.6 (and 1.3.7 in a few minutes :) )
I just tested on a brand new installation without errors.
Do not upload the SQL file. Open the file and cut and paste all of the text into the SQL Query Executer.
Once you have it installed properly, please run the latest update which is for GFF 1.3.7 (do not be confused with the zen cart version number which is also 1.3.7).
My next post below will have the information to obtain v1.3.7
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
GOOGLE FROOGLE FEEDER v1.3.7 - RELEASED 19/06/2007
Notes:
- Removed shipping attribute;
- Added instock attribute based on quantity attribute;
- Code optimization for counter;
Google Base has notified users that they have deprecated the shipping attribute and are now making mpn and upc mandatory attributes. Fortunately, mpn was added in v1.3.6 of the GFF. GFF currently does not support UPC as this would require a newly defined attribute within all of Zen Cart's products. I will add this if absolutely necessary.
If the quantity attribute is activated within the configuration, this will also activate the instock attribute based on whether or not the product quantity is greater than 0.
The code optimization decreased the size of the GFF itself but most likely will not have an affect on the execution time of the feeder.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
thanks numinix,
the cut and paste worked fine. haven't had a chance to upgrade to GFF v1.3.7 yet.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
I would HIGHLY recommend that you never upload SQL files. Always cut and paste. That is something you'll learn very fast around here ;)

Thanks numinix, copy/paste worked (didn't know that was an issue--I've always done uploads in the past).
For the upgrade, do we just need to do a SQL update or do we need to replace files?
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Upload and replace the files. No core files are edited in this contribution so upgrading can always just be an overwrite.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Hello Numinix,
Cool mods. Thanks.
I have install your latest version which is 1.3.7/
But
STEP 1: Click [HERE] to create / update your product feed.
after i click the [HERE] text , only a blank window opened.. There is no content..
What is happened??
Thanks
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Most likely a timeout issue which has existed since before v1.3.4. Please read from the beginning of this thread for a fix.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
AFAIK, you can only use those in a php.ini file (not .htaccess).

No , I just asked my hoster, he suggested me to change the .htaccess files...
but after changing , got the above error.
so what to do?
Is that the real reason which causes the blank window problem..
I mean when i try to generate the feed , i can only get a blank new window , and then nothing displays..
:(
Thanks

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Change the execution time in your Admin -> Configuration -> My Store
Possibly an issue with 1.3.5.
How many products do you have in your store?

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Tip:
always install a test installation of Zen Cart in a sub-folder of your domain (i.e. /TEST/). Then test scripts individually within the test site in order to see if their are any conflicts with your server etc.
I would suggest you install v1.3.7 as a test installation and see if you can get it working. If it works, then it's most likely an issue with v1.3.5 as the script was written for v1.3.7. Or, if you can find Zen Cart v1.3.5, try creating a test installation of that and see if it is an issue with 1.3.5 or possibly a conflict with another module.
Let me know the results of your testing so that we can help other users avoid this issue.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
i've tested the mod on 1.3.7 on my own PC.
Yes it works fine..
So probably it may be uncompatible with 1.3.5.
But i will keep testing on a new 1.3.5 installation
Thanks.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Ok Numinix,
It works with new 1.3.5 . I mean i have not installed any other mod except google froogle feeder, it can work
SO it must conflict with another module. But i dont know which one .
Is there a easy way can test it out?
Thanks
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
i have checked the google froogle feeder's file , they are all separate.
No zencart orignal file need changed and replaced..
how can It conflict with other mods?
SO weird!
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Please list all of your installed modules.
You can also try installing them one at a time with the GFF.
For example, a conflict existed with Zen Manager because Zen Manager alters the way that products are stored in the database. However, this issue was resolved and the latest version of Zen Manager has no conflicts.

Do you know whether there are any zen-wordpress which is compatible with Google froogle feeder currently?
Thanks in advance.

I have never heard of WordPress. I suggest you contact the author of that script and request them to release a patch that will fix the issue.

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Just find out which file in zen_wordpress has conflicted with google foogle feeder.
zen_root\includes\extra_configures\wordpress-config.php
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Well the original code in that file is
<?php
//
// wordpress on zencart by http://www.s-page.net/
//
$woz_install=0;
if (file_exists(DIR_FS_CATALOG . 'wp-settings.php')) {
$woz_install=1;
define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
$wp_did_header = true;
define('DB_NAME', DB_DATABASE); // The name of the database
define('DB_USER', DB_SERVER_USERNAME); // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', DB_SERVER_PASSWORD); // ...and password
define('DB_HOST', DB_SERVER); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
// You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique prefix
$table_prefix = DB_PREFIX . 'wp_'; // Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!
// Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
// chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
// For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to 'de'
// to enable German language support.
define ('WPLANG', '');
/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
//define('ABSPATH', './wordpress/');
define('ABSPATH', DIR_FS_CATALOG);
require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-settings.php');
$i=strlen(DIR_WS_CATALOG);
$req=substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'],$i,1);
if($req=='?'){
$_GET['main_page']='wordpress';
}
//I just find the the below code has conflicted with google froogle feeder v1.3.7 , please notice!!
if(isset($_GET['feed'])){
wp();
gzip_compression();
// require_once('./wordpress/wp-includes/template-loader.php');
require_once('./wp-includes/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
}
?>
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
if(isset($_GET['feed'])){
wp();
gzip_compression();
// require_once('./wordpress/wp-includes/template-loader.php');
require_once('./wp-includes/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
The function code isset($_GET['feed']) do conflit with google froogle. Since there is the same function Line in goolgefroogle.php in zencart root directory!
I know little php , My way to get the worked together is to delete the code
if(isset($_GET['feed'])){
wp();
gzip_compression();
// require_once('./wordpress/wp-includes/template-loader.php');
require_once('./wp-includes/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
}
in wordpress-config.php.
The wordpress still works fine. But i am not sure there will be any hidden trouble in futurn.
DOes any body have other options to change the code ?
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Hello Numinix,
I just find delete the
if(isset($_GET['feed'])){
wp();
gzip_compression();
// require_once('./wordpress/wp-includes/template-loader.php');
require_once('./wp-includes/template-loader.php');
exit();
}
will disable the RSS generate in the blog.
I have tried to change the feed things in the MOd of zen_worldpress.
There is so many reference files , even in the wordpress files.
It is not a better way to resolve the problem from zen_wordpress.
I just suppose it is better to change from google feeder..
But i dont know how to ? It should not be a big deal right?
(isset($_GET['feed']), can i just change the 'feed' in googlefroogle.php and reletive files in order not to conflict with the code in zenwordpress.
Thanks

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Andrew,
I installed the GFF today followed the install directions as I should have, I think.
When I went to Admin>Tools>Google Froogle Feeder what I got was this:
http://www.intimateu.com/images/GFF.bmp
Any particular idea as to why this might happen?
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Hi, Andrew no longer supports this contribution and all recent updates have been brought to you by Numinix Technology.
I can't read the text in the photograph. Make sure you have uploaded all of the files to the correct location or the definitions will not display and instead will display the CONSTANT_NAME.
Be sure to upload this file which contains the constants that you appear to be missing:
admin/includes/languages/english/googlefroogle.php

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
One more question Jeff.
Since you took upon yourself to modify this mod, I'll assume you're very familiar with it.
The only way to limit what goes into the feed is by number of items.
I was hoping to be able to indicate a specific category to feed, instead of the whole store.
Can that be done?
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Yes it's possible but it would take a lot of modifications. Implementing this would depend on the number of zenners interested in such an update and their willingness to support its creation. For donations, please use PM only or visit the downloads section of my website at http://www.numinix.com.

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
v1.3.8 - GOOGLE FROOGLE FEEDER
Gave the feed file a cleaner look to support v1.4.0 set to release later this evening as well.
1. Code optimization;
2. Rewrote readme.txt file;
v1.4.0 will be a more major release which will auto generate google base adwords ads. This code is completed and is currently being documented. The reason for releasing v1.3.8 is for those who are not interested in google base adwords but still want the optimized code from v1.4.0

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Just found this thread tonigt and had everthing installed very quickly! I love readme file with clear direction!
I do have a couple of directions:
When I configure GFF i use my google base username and PW so where do I enter the FTP username and PW?
The mod produces the feed - I was able to view the file. When I upload the product feed to Google Froogle Merchants I get the following:
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.3.8 04.07.2007 16:50 started 2007/07/04 21:51:03
Feed file - /home/content/p/i/p/pipsmker/html/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Is that what I should see?
Finally, when I click on "NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content." I get the following:
Froogle Merchants FTP content:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Connection failed: uploads.google.com
I assume this can be fixed based on the answer to question 1. Am I correct?
Thanks for the help and the great work! PGT

Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
Is that what I should see?
Finally, when I click on "NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content." I get the following:
Froogle Merchants FTP content:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Connection failed: uploads.google.com
I assume this can be fixed based on the answer to question 1. Am I correct?
Thanks for the help and the great work! PGT
Follow the steps in the readme to create your FTP account at google.base.com

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
v1.4.0b GOOGLE FROOGLE FEEDER
GOOGLE BASE ADWORDS NOW SUPPORTED!
1. Added Google Base Adwords functionality;
2. Only enabled adwords for selected categories;
Installation Instructions for Google Base Adwords (also found in readme.txt):
Google offers the ability to create adwords campaigns for your products using your products link as your landing page.
The keywords are auto generated by Google and maintained by Google to optimize the number of clicks.
Google Adwords will only create ad campaigns for the first 100 items.
However, setting ad groups (not currently supported in v1.4.0), will allow creating landing pages and ads for groups of items. You can choose which 100 items are included by selecting your bottom-level category names in the admin->configuration.
This release is beta and will become more optimized in future releases.
1. Login to base.google.com, go to settings and activate your Google Base Adwords Campaign;
2. Update to latest version of Google Froogle Feeder and activate Google Base Adwords from the admin->configuration;
3. Set the maximum cost-per-click (min. 0.05), the visible URL of your website to display in your ads, and the category names to include separated by commas;
4. Before generating your feed file, please read the following:
Google Adwords consist of 4 lines: a title, line 1 of ad, line 2 of ad, and the visible url of your website;
The Google Froogle Feeder auto generates the first 3 lines of the advertisement using values that you have set for your products:
- title = the first 25 characters (whole words only) of your products title (i.e. Dell Inspiron 6000 Desktop Computer -> Dell Inspiron 6000);
- line 1 = "[manufacturer] [model]" (i.e. Samsung 931BW);
- line 2 = "Only $[price]!" (i.e. Only $24.99!);
For optimal results, place significant information at the beginning of your product titles to be autogenerated into the ad;
5. Generate your feed file and upload to google base;
UPCOMING RELEASES:
I will add a counter that will let you know how many of your items have been enabled for google base adwords. Adgroups will also be something that I want to work on, but will require additional aid.

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
numinix-
I have the account set up in google base. Is there somewhere in Zen Cart I need to add the user name / pw? Does it go in the GF Config? If so where? I am not sure as to what I am missing. PGT
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
By username and PW I am referring to the set for my FTP. I have my google base creds in the config GUI.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Your Google Base FTP username and password go in the GGF Configuration. Those are the only username and password that you need. Your Google Account username and password are completely separate.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Got it! I have ensured that I am using my correct user name / pw for the FTP portion of Google Base in my cart by opening the FTP window within Google with the same creds.
When I click on Step 2 I get the following:
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.3.8 04.07.2007 16:50 started 2007/07/05 05:57:19
Feed file - /home/content/p/i/p/pipsmker/html/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
When i click on NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content I get tehe following:
Froogle Merchants FTP content:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Connection failed: uploads.google.comWhere am I going wrong?
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Does it complete the upload for you?
That second link is not important and has existed from before my updates.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
The upload does not complete. I verified by signing in to the Google Base ftp and no files exist and my store items do not shop in the google base.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
PastGen,
What worked for me was this.
After I generated the Froogle.txt file, I downloaded it to my PC, and used the upload feature on Google Base to upload the file.
I have 393 items right now, and when I tried it from ZC I didn't see my upload even after 3 or 4 hours, but when I uploaded directly, I began to see the items on the "my items" base list within minutes.
I don't know why that's the case, and this defeats the whole scheduling aspect of automating the feed. But that's what I had to do.
At least you can get your items uploaded and work the rest out later.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
I am giving it a shot. I did see that Google Base requires a UPC so I have a feeling my file may get rejected. Hopefully not!
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
So far so good... they are showing up! Now to get Zen to handle the load!
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
UPDATE!
Google Base has alerted me, as I had just completed the Google Base Adwords support, that they are discontinuing Google Base Adwords.
Please revert back to v1.3.8 until I release v1.4.1 which will also allow you to feed only certain categories. Should be ready in the next few days.
-
Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
v1.4.1 - GOOGLE BASE FEEDER
- Removed Google Base Adwords;
- Allow category selection;
- Module now known as Google Base Feeder;
#2 was completed as a special request by a user in this thread. I will consider requests for the Google Base Feeder, but please donate as a lot of time and effort is put into updating this module.

Numinix,
I uggraded to the current version ( I was two back) and I still get the same message when I try to see the files in google base:
Froogle Merchants FTP content:
Connected to: uploads.google.com
Connection failed: uploads.google.com
I do have the correct username / pw in the cart. It does create the file but I have to manually load it in google base to make it work. Any suggestions?

You are using the FTP username and password and not your Google Base account settings right?

It clearly says to cut and past the SQL file and not use UPLOAD in order to avoid any errors.

The mod name was changed automatically when I upgraded to 1.4.0b so I thought I might as well make it official. I'll just get this thread renamed.

I am using the FTP creds. I tested that by using the same creds to open the actual FTP site within Google Base.

Re: Google Froogle Feeder Support Thread
Oops, the error you are getting has nothing to do with your login information. Your host isn't connecting to Google. This part of the script was written previous to my updates so I am not too familiar with the requirements for the ftp_connect() functions used in the script. Try contacting your host.
Also, could you please time the length it takes to return the "connection failed".
The script uses the default timeout of 90 seconds.
Try changing the code on line 366 and 368 from:
PHP Code:
if($ssl)
$cd = ftp_ssl_connect($url);
else
$cd = ftp_connect($url);
to:
PHP Code:
if($ssl)
$cd = ftp_ssl_connect($url, 21, 120); // port 21: timeout: 120 seconds
else
$cd = ftp_connect($url, 21, 120);

I have just installed the foogle feeder mod, but I click step one to produce feed, then go on step two to upload feed and get the following
message

I have put my google base ftp name and password in the settings, and (think) I have done everything right on my google base, can anyone help.

googlefroogle.php in the root directory.
magpie, you may also try to increase the timeout for the functions that are timing out for you.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
hi
i just installed your mod 1.4.1, installed the sql file, copy paste and when i run the file to create a foogle file i get
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.4.1 09.07.2007 12:00 started 2007/07/10 23:37:04
Feed file - /home/content/s/i/r/sirryche5/html/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - Yes, Upload - No
so i go to the froogle.txt and there is nothing there. its empty i have reinstalled this mod 4 times and reinstalled the database both from zen and my cpanel. i do have over 1200 products and tried with the id and with model, it seems to act like its creating something but even if you use the view button before step 2 it comes up blank. :frusty: any ideas? thanks
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hi,
Does anyone know how long should it take before the uploaded items apper on the Google base?
Google quotes 48 hours, I uploaded my stuff on the 8th, there is still nothing. The mod reported no errors, the froogle.txt file is not empty.
Thanks,
Alex

This has been an issue for quite some time and remains since Andrew's original script. I haven't duplicated this error myself and don't know if it is a timeout issue or not. It should at least print some lines before timing out. I will PM you to see if we can try to resolve this issue once and for all.

Have you registered the bulk upload file with Google Base?
It can take some time for your first feed to be accepted. Usually updates occur on the same day though.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
v1.4.2 GOOGLE BASE FEEDER
- Removed instock output;
- Updated readme file instructions;
Small update to remove an attribute that Google doesn't use. They base instock on the quantity and this doesn't need to be defined in the feed.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
ok well now how do i say this :oops: it dose not work but yet it dose work..
let me explain the problem now. when i put the code in the htaccess file my template compleatly disappears.:frusty: everything works but its just the words and product pictures. it creates a froogle file but not upload. i take out the code and my web is back to normal but my froogle times out.:censored: so i either have to code it correctly i htaccess (which i have no idea how to do) or somehow get godaddy to change my php.ini. any other sugestions? for now ill put my site down for 10-15 min create the froogle file the put it back up. only way i can think of it so far..

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
v1.4.3 GOOGLE BASE FEEDER
- Added UPC and ISBN;
This is a major update as it modifies several admin core files in order to allow users to input the UPC and ISBN as well as extract this data from the database to be used by the Google Base Feeder.
It is going to be a very large task to input all of the UPC information into each product manually so I thought I would get a jump start on Google Base making this attribute absolutely mandatory. I am hoping that someone will update the mod QUICK UPDATES to include the UPC and ISBN fields to make the updating task a lot easier.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
ya hoo :clap: boy i'm i excited. i had this hosting site for years and i have ereased this site a number of time from first website to cre loaded to now my new Zen cart. which zen is #1. ny way i remember a while back when i wiped the website out that it use to have a php.ini file and now it dosn't. so just for the fun of it and nothing to loose i created a php.ini file and put this in it
max_execution_time = 300
max_input_time = 90
memory_limit = 50M
post_max_size = 50M
file_uploads = On
upload_max_filesize = 50m
uploaded to root and wala:cheers: it works. as i said before when it put that above code into my htaccess my website lost all template settings but the mod would create step one and not time out. but with out that code my web worked but the mod timed out and would not create any files.
since i created my own php.ini file the mod works and dose not time out and it creates the froogle files. but------still wont upload:no: i get
Froogle Data Feeder v.1.4.3 12.07.2007 14:40 started 2007/07/12 19:56:30
Feed file - /home/content/s/i/r/sirryche5/html/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - Yes
Upload started...
and it just sits there. its running now and been about 10 minutes . ill let it run overnight or until it errors. so for now i have to download the up load the froogle file from their site. better than nothing any body that gets it to upload let me know if you had to do anything different to get it to work.. oh ya i use godaddy for my host if anybody wonders and running zen 1.3.7 with the newest google base feeder 1.4.3
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
That is a good finding. In the next update (no ETA since no issues), I will create a troubleshooting file and state that you can create your own php.ini file if one does not exist and avoid the htaccess file altogether!
Let me know if there are any issues with the UPC/ISBN additions. I hope Zen Cart will add this to the core files in the next release.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
i'm back. well after a long night of searching and reseting my database and reinstalling backups i found a bug in google base 1.4.3 i get this message when i try to modify a product under admin->catalog->(product name)
Quote:
1054 Unknown column 'p.products_weight_type' in 'field list'
in:
[select pd.products_name, pd.products_description, pd.products_url, p.products_id, p.products_quantity, p.products_model, p.products_upc, p.products_isbn, p.products_image, p.products_price, p.products_virtual, p.products_weight, p.products_weight_type, p.products_dim_type, p.products_length, p.products_width, p.products_height, p.products_ready_to_ship, p.products_date_added, p.products_last_modified, date_format(p.products_date_available, '%Y-%m-%d') as products_date_available, p.products_status, p.products_tax_class_id, p.manufacturers_id, p.products_quantity_order_min, p.products_quantity_order_units, p.products_priced_by_attribute, p.product_is_free, p.product_is_call, p.products_quantity_mixed, p.product_is_always_free_shipping, p.products_qty_box_status, p.products_quantity_order_max, p.products_sort_order, p.products_discount_type, p.products_discount_type_from, p.products_price_sorter, p.master_categories_id from products p, products_description pd where p.products_id = '186' and p.products_id = pd.products_id and pd.language_id = '1']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
instead of taking the easy way out and ask for help i paniced (using live site, i know stupid me) thought it was my database and long story short spent a long night getting my site back up. anyway
i trace it to the file admin->includes->modules->product->collect_info.php
i did some poking around but could not get it to work(not a programer know very little php) so i replaced the file with my original file(after spending 2 hrs looking for my backups.) and have it working. reinstalled 1.4.2 and no problems if you know a fix let me know and ill give 1.4.3 another try.

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
Hi numinix,
Great work with this contribution.
I too was suffering from blank froogle.txt files being written. I'm running IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003 x64 and after tweaking the permissions for my 'feeds' folder I was able to get everything working.
I have noticed two small errors with the contribution (nothing major), but I felt they should be reported.
1 - In admin>tools>google froogle feeder the link within this text, "NOTE: You may view your product feed file before proceeding to step 2.", does not take into account different feed directories (it just points to /feed/ regardless of the output directory configuration).
2 - The update_1_4_3.sql and googlefroogle.sql in the 1.4.3 release contain a small typo. 'UPC' has been listed in place of ISBN.
Code:
(NULL, 'UPC', 'GOOGLE_BASE_UPC', 'false', 'Include products UPC?', @configuration_group_id, 31, NOW(), NULL, 'zen_cfg_select_option(array(\'true\', \'false\'),'),
(NULL, 'UPC', 'GOOGLE_BASE_ISBN', 'false', 'Include products ISBN?', @configuration_group_id, 32, NOW(), NULL, 'zen_cfg_select_option(array(\'true\', \'false\'),');
This then creates two options named 'UPC' in the configuration settings.
I hope this helps. :)

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I will issue a fix for the issues reported by the last two posters. Thank you for notifying me. In the meantime, you can simply change the UPC to ISBN, and for the collect_info, take out the section that is surrounded by comments for the CANADA POST SHIPPING MODULE. I accidentally used an already edited core file.

Sounds good.
Before posting I had already changed the UPC to ISBN using phpmyadmin.
Like I said they were only small issues and everything else appears to be working just fine.
Thanks again for this great contribution!

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I installed this G Base Feeder locally and works fine.
But when I installed this same mod in my live site, and when I go to Tools -> Google Froogle Feeder, I get the following error only in the entire page:
TEXT_GOOGLE_FROOGLE_STARTED
TEXT_GOOGLE_FROOGLE_FILE_LOCATION/var/www/vhosts/naso9.com/httpdocs/feed/froogle.txt
Processing: Feed - No, Upload - No
Can anyone plz suggest me what might have gone wrong?
Thanks

Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
You're language definition files for the Admin aren't in the correct location.
-
Re: Google Base Feeder Support Thread
I made a mistake in 1.4.4 and accidentally put the modules folder in the admin in the wrong spot. Please move admin/modules to admin/includes/modules. This should fix the definitions error. I'll fix this for 1.4.5 which will include the ability to remove certain categories in the same way that you can limit to only certain categories. Hopefully I'll get to it in the next couple of days.
I'm hoping to being working on a feeder for another auction website that has a lot of potential for Zen Cart users. I'll say more once I've been given confirmation if the project will be sponsored or not.

Thanks for pointing this out.
I've noticed another little bug (well... I think it's a bug).
From admin>tools>google froogle feeder when you click on the link within the "NOTE: You may view Froogle Merchants FTP content." text a small popup window appears showing your FTP content, which is fine. But, a the same time, the original page returns to the admin home page.
Is this meant to happen?
