Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Thank you for all your effort! I want you to know that something like this mod should be included in Zen Cart as my store wouldn't be able to run effectively without this feature(s)
I will let you know how this works as soon as I update the current version I have (which is yours by the way!)
Thanks again for keeping this Add-on alive
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
No Problem, yes please let me know so I can add it to the contribution area. I agree as I needed it also for my store. Nothing worse then selling something that's out of stock.
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Well I guess this version is all good. I will submit it to the contribution area after I redo the readme file.
Thanks Everyone!
Charles

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
I was installing this for a client and noticed it hadn't been updated so I did the merges and put it in the contribs area.
[Note: I didn't realize someone else was working on it. Charles, if you have made any other changes, please update the one in the downloads area.]

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
I am glad swguy seen the creinold has been working on this. It would be nice to consolidate all stock by attributes mods to just one and build off of that one. I would like to thank everyone that has worked on this and all other contributes for software addons. I have yet to install creinold's version and test, but will. I myself see stock by attributes contributing to a POS piece that I would like to work on(if I ever get any time). If UPC/Sku was added, I would think you could get it unique to scan Sku\UPC when checking out customer with a POS system on zencart. Anyway, that is a different rabbit whole.....

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Sorry I havent got a chance to install your updated version as I have been moving. I noticed that there is a new version of Stock by Attributes v1.4.12 what is the functional difference between these two?
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
ok got it installed! Finally (we moved) Seems to be working great.
I was just wondering what is the difference between your version and the Stock by Attributes v1.4.12 that is out now?
It seems so confusing with the different versions.
Again thanks for your add on! I sell clothing and couldn't do it with out this add-on. (Seems it should be stock to Zen Cart)
Just my 2 cents...
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Seems it should be stock to Zen Cart
It will be stock in v2.0.
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Yes! Totally awesome, I cant wait. Any ideas on a time frame?
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Afraid not, beyond "when it's ready".

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Hi Creinold,
Shopping by attributes is a "must" in an e-commerce store who serves wholesalers.
my question is:
I would think a customer will see a form where he could define the quantity he wants to order for each attribute.
Size #6 Qty: XX.
Size #7 Qty: YY.
Size #8 Qty: ZZ .....and so on..
and the stock will be synchronizes accordingly (When he will click "add to cart" the stock for the 3 different attributes will be updated).
Is this what your Addon does? how do I configure it?
Thank you very much
Amrami

I was wondering the same thing.
My cart is zc 1.3.9h but I'm using older SBA 1.4.9 Ajax in combination with Product Attribute Grid v 1.1.1 to achieve the above. (sample - http://www.meafordwool.com/Milled-So...ort-Wool-Socks )
I've been fearful to update what is working well for me, but I also don't know if I have some vulnerabilities in the code of these older v mods.
I'm further confused about this 5.0 beta vs the SBA 1.4.12 - if they do the same thing or?? And also if either would eliminate the need for the Product Attribute Grid, and if not, if they would still work in concert with it.
Regards for a Happy New Year to all.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
I am noticing that I have an issue if I have 2ea small, 2ea medium, and 2ea large this totals 6. So it shows 6 total in stock. The problem is that the shopping cart lets the buyer order all 6 in small or any other size even though there is only 2ea for each size available. Is there a fix for this?
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
this is exactly what I needed. Only question is how can I get it to show how many of each attribute is in stock so the customers don't try to order more than what is in stock?
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
No one seems to answer much in this thread. My suggestion would be to ask your question in the other thread for Stock Attributes 4.0... It is much more active than this one. Diva Vocals is over there and she is amazing with all she does to help!

i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! I couldn't find the answers anywhere. Then I decided to actually go through the files in the download and follow the path on my includes and admin to add every single file or edit the files that existed. It took a while but IT WORKED. The files it talks about renaming you actually have to create. they come up in the download as includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE and includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE (which you will hopefully have a custom template and you just replace the YOUR_TEMPLATE with the custom template name you used. You will have to create the folder and then the file in your FTP. the other one the same thing follow the path and create the file then copy the code and paste it in the new file. You will need to create a few other files too. Just follow the path. everything that opens in the download open on your FTP. You'll get it.
Hope that helps. the read me had me incredibly lost!

lol sorry you have to do both the admin and includes folders/files. save each one to the section it leads you to in the download. you have to follow each one. It took me almost a week to figure out to do this. Once I did it took about 30 minutes but it works.
My shop is http://balticcreations.net several of my items are stocked by attributes. My only problem is it doesn't show the customers how many per attribute are available. It just won't let them check out if there is insufficient stock.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Hi,
Thanks for this great module however I am experiencing some problems with it.
I believe I was previously using CReinold v4.8 and noticed that even though I am able to control stock by attributes, customers can put in stock amounts above restrictions set up to the sum of total quantities and checkout.
Example: 2x Small, 2x Medium, 2x Large - customers can put 6x Small in checkout even though theres a restriction of 2. Any extra than the total sum results in error message:
"Products marked with *** are out of stock. / Items not in stock will be placed on backorder."
So I have upgraded to CReinold v5.0 Beta and have noticed no changes to my problem.
Also, if I only add quantity to Small and not include Medium/Large - however still add all attributes to this product - the med/larg variantion shows up in the product dropdown menu. Is this correct? I know if I choose quantity 0 for medium/large will stop it showing up but shouldn't quantity 0 be treated the same as not including the stock quantity attributes.
Finally, is there a written procedure to fully remove this module so that I can re-install it to remove the mistake from my end if I cannot find it.
Thanks for your help and for a great module!

I too have this issue and its very annoying! Not only does it mess the customer around, it also messes me around and can even put people off ordering from me again which i really dont want.
If anybody knows how to fix this, even a different add-on (if there is one) that doesnt do this i would be very thankful.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Appears there is no solution to this, which is very unfortunate as this is a great module!!
I believe this will be integrated in the new ZenCart which will one day be coming out, so I guess we should all wait patiently and work around this issue. :(
At least I know I am not the only one with this issue though !!

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
I am using SbyA v Ajax 1.4.9.
I also am using Product Attribute Grid v 1.1.1
I don't have any difficulty sorting inventory according to both size and colour. My product page shows how many of each are in stock, and customers can't checkout ordering more of anything than what I have on hand (I have backorders setting turned off). If a size or colour is out of stock it is not possible for a customer to buy it.
I was not able to do this with out adding the PAG 1.1.1
Sample product page: http://www.meafordwool.com/Milled-So...ort-Wool-Socks
I am using zc 1.3.9h with quite a few mods.
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Has there been no update to this, are people still having the issues with customers checking out with out of stock items? Would love to try this out but obviously need it work first!
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
I was wondering if anybody solved the above problem yet...
I have the same problem with my store. I can place an order higher than available stock for Product A in specific size - no warning displays unless it exceeds TOTAL number (Total stock of all sizes of Product A) of the product stock. It will let you proceed to Checkout page but then it won't let me checkout (as I set admin FALSE for "Allow Checkout") so stays at the same page after clicking Checkout button. It will confuse customers since no alert is displayed to tell them there is not enough stock for the product. This is only thing that is stopping me from going LIVE so I desperately need an answer for this. :frusty:
I also would like to know how people are working around this issue (if they are still using SBA 5.0 Beta version).
Thanks!
-
Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Will have to move to this soon as this problem has not been resolved. Thanks for the information!

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
I added this to a test site first and it seemed to work fine. So I added it to my other site last night and again everything seems to work fine ; ) I do have a question though!
I have it set up to mark attributes that are out of stock as "backordered" (they will ship at a later date but they can still order them) and it shows that and a nice message in the shopping cart. However, once an order is placed it doesn't show "backordered" on invoices, packing slips or in the customers account where they view their order. Is there a way to make it show up in any of those areas? Or is it supposed to do that and just not working for me?

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
No that was never built in the original module. I will put that on my future wish list to do on this modification.

Not without the error log record to see what happened.. You need to look in your cache folder and post the contents of the error log that was generated..

Hi,
Heres the error info in the log:
[16-Mar-2012 21:53:43] PHP Fatal error: 1364:Field 'sort' doesn't have a default value :: insert into `products_with_attributes_stock` (`products_id`,`stock_attributes`,`quantity`) values (1,"1",2) in G:\smarthostuk\smarthostuk.com\wwwroot\Store\includes\classes\db\mysql\query_fac tory.php on line 101
I have done a fresh install twice now and still get the same problem.
Any help would be great

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
After research found out your on a Windows hosting program. Search Google for the same error and came up with this fix.
Not sure if you have access to my.ini file in the mysql folder. If not have your host make this change.
# Set the SQL mode to strict # sql-mode="STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION" sql-mode="NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION"

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Any chance this version of SBA has any effect on showing additional images? I've been posting here in this thread also http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...22#post1112222 and it seems that the other person that can't get additional images to show is also using SBA (not sure which version).
I made sure they are named properly, show additional images is turned on, I tried making the file smaller etc but they won't show.

Not much of a chance since SBA does not touch files dealing with additional images..

You NEVER use anything BETA on a live site.. BETA means it is in DEVELOPMENT/TESTING phase, and not a production ready release.. I personally would NEVER use a beta release of ANY add-on on a live site no matter how much I think I NEED it..
So to answer your question I don't know what you SHOULD use.. I do know two things..
- ALL of the the 4.0 versions of SBA (EXCEPT the last release by Kuroi) are BUGGY AS HECK, and wouldn't (and don't) use ANY of them!
- ALL of the the 4.0 versions of SBA will NOT work with Zen Cart v1.5
You can either be patient and WAIT for the final release of SBA 5.0 or if you need this NOW and cannot wait for the stable final release, invest in a developer to get SBA PRODUCTION ready for you.
Hope that helps

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
With that said. I do use it on one of my clients live site. If you are going to use on a live site. You need to test the heck out of it on a test site. Make sure no bugs are going to prevent your customer from ordering a product.
Right now one if the major bug is with attribute types. Radio, checkbox, and text do not work. I am working on a fix in the limited spare time I have. So if you use those type of form selector. Do not use this on a live site. It will not work.
Also on customer invoices it doesn't have any warning that the item is out of stock or are on backorder. So if you allow checkout with out of stock items. They only get a warning at the beginning of the checkout stage. Nothing in customer invoice and or emails.

The difference is YOU wrote/updated this add-on, so you are in a better position to quickly address issues that may arise for your client than the average shopowner who is not code savvy.. Plus you have made it clear in previous posts that you will not be providing a LOT of support for this add-on. Given these two things IMHO shopowners who are NOT code savvy, and are considering using this on a live shop (when it's still a BETA release) should consider waiting for this to be a FINAL release before using it on a live shop.

I will be waiting patiently for these fixes before using this add-on.. I LOVE everything else you've done with SBA thus far, and I can't wait to see the final release with all of these features in place.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
Cool, thanks folks for the warnings - I didn't actually know it was a beta so now I do. I actually only loaded Zencart 1.5 so as to use this addin, so I'm happy to go back to the old version.
Regarding the previous releases, I think there were only ones that didn't show stock available by attribute until checkout - is that correct?
Can anybody tell me whether they would then stop the person from buying it, or would they allow it to be bought on backorder AND tell me that the person had been warned of this, so that I'd know? I suppose if they can still backorder and I'm notified that they know about the delay, I can use that for now until Creinold's is in alpha... it's just that I struggle with knowing the ins and outs of what they do and don't do until I actually try using it which is a long process!

The title of this thread says this is a BETA add-on (Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)) as does creinold's original post announcing this version's development..

You might remember I didn't start on this thread, I started on the v4 one where I was told that only Creinold's addin would do what I needed. Once I had upgraded to zen cart 1.5 and went looking for Creinold's add in link at that point, I probably should have noticed, but I was really just looking for a link.
Not that it's particularly relevant, I think Creinold's add in is great and I might use it anyway, I was just saying that I hadn't realised I shouldn't be using it on a live site.

I wouldn't use any beta version of an add-on on a live site.. Even the Zen Cart admins STRESSED not using the beta versions of Zen Cart v1.5 on a live site.. It's not a good practice IMHO.. The recent issue with additional images is a good example of why I suggest waiting until there is a final release..

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
Hi creinold,
I have installed your latest version on my test site and for some reason I do not see "Products with Attributes" in my catalog drop down menu. I saw in earlier posts that there was an issue with that, but it seems like you fixed it. So I assume I've done something wrong. Any ideas?
By the way, thank you very much for updating this module.

Not a problem with the latest version at all.. But it does sound like the SQL install which would add SBA to your admin menu did not get done correctly... Double check your install..

Like Diva said, please check your database to see if it got inserted correctly. Did you install a previous version before?

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
Hi Diva and Creinold,
From your posts in various threads Creinold you have mentioned that you have a client that has the dynamic dropdown working for SBA and it works for several attributes (presumably by forcing the customer to select the colour first then size etc?). Would it be possible for you to link to this site or another test site where i can see the dynamic drop down in action?
We are running on 1.3.9h and are looking to implement a dynamic dropdown. We currently have an availability box telling a customer whether a combination is in stock after they have selected all options www.redpostequestrian.co.uk , however this is not so good for customers if we have several colours and several sizes out of stock as they have to look through lots (and often they ignore it anyway and try to checkout). We only use drop down boxes for attributes and won't normally have more than 4 different attribute options. Is there some code i can put in for the dynamic dropdowns? Preferrably with it leaving out of stock sizes/colours showing but greyed out with (out of stock) next to them and unclickable.
Thanks!

Hi creinold,
I did install a previous version before installing the latest one. In the latest one I did not install the sql again. Do I need to remove the previous install sql before adding the new one?

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
Short and sweet answer is that sequenced dropdowns (the functionality you are inquiring about) is only supported for Zen Cart v1.5.
What creinold developed and what is being discussed in THIS SBA thread is the version of SBA that is setup to work SPECIFICALLY (and ONLY) with Zen Cart v1.5. It does indeed support sequenced dropdowns because creinold FIXED that old crippled Dynamic Dropdowns add-on and integrated it and into his Zen Cart v1.5 ready version of SBA.
This version --Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)-- will NOT work with Zen Cart v1.3.9 (or any versions prior to v1.3.9), and any questions with regards to the SBA versions which work with Zen Cart v1.3.9 should be directed to the correct support thread for all those MANY SBA flavors that work (albeit BADLY) with Zen Cart v1.3.9.
Now to save you a little trouble.. sequenced dropdowns was a feature that was FREQUENTLY asked about in the other SBA support thread and to my knowledge NO ONE ever has posted a code fix for sequenced dropdowns..

and NOT installing the SQL file is EXACTLY why you don't see SBA in your admin menu..
and YEAH you should run the un-install before running the new install..

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
I just want to thank Creinold for taking this on and all those who are supporting him by testing the module as well. This adds invaluable functionality to Zen Cart and I'm grateful an update is coming so I'll be able to enjoy the benefits of upgrading to 1.5.
Again, my thanks to all of you.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
Hey there, could anybody help me troubleshoot why the dynamic dropdown is not working in my template?
For instance at http://j ibadoo.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=5
It's a template problem, as when I go back to the classic green template, all is well. However, I'm not sure what code I should be looking for in what file, to make this work in my template - is there a template file I should have updated and haven't?
Grateful for any help...!

Is the an unistall.ql for the SBA 1-4-14 the non modified version as i installed this first and then found out it did not work and then found this alpha version?
thanks
I'm having this issue too. As posted above, it's only in my particular template, so I'm wondering if there's a file I need to copy over from the default template.
However interestingly the default template shows the dropdown - but no quantities, so it's not exactly working either...

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Hi. I have Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0) installed on a fresh Zen1.5.0. I've done some basic testing and it appears to functioning without issue but there are things I have noticed which would frustrate potential customers.
Firstly, on the product info page I have the "In Stock" feature turned on. It shows the total number of stock available. So if I have 4 red thingo's and 7 blue thingo's, it shows 11 in stock. That's OK; no issue with that, but the customer has no way of knowing how many red or blue thingo's I have on the product info page. THe options do identify the thingo's that are ouy of stock, but options that have a current stock level, do not show the stock available.
One option the customer has is to add thingo's to the cart. In the cart the customer can check if the qty ordered is available however for e.g. if he/she orders 9 red thingo's they will see the *** indication there isn't enough stock. The only option then is to try different qty's; I know this would annoy me.
I believe if the code is evaulating stock levels and capable of showing "Out of stock", that same code would have variables that contain the qty of stock for that attribute. I'm not a coder, but I'd like to suggest a visual change to what the customer see's as attribute qty's. The images below show it better than I can explain it.
Before Change:
Attachment 10347
After Change:
Attachment 10348
As you can see the option dropdown would be more informative; the customer can see available stock qty's and is unlikely to get frustrated trying to work out how many red thingo's I have available.
I hope this is a simple change, and look forward to some nice :D person making it available.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta
Thanks to creinold for carrying on with the torch here. I have been having some minor trouble with the SBA add-in and after a few days of research I haven't been able to make any progress. My attributes are all drop-down menus. When I select an attribute and add the item to the cart, the attribute doesn't get added- just the item with no attribute. This happens every time with every item. I first noticed it when the orders would arrive without any attributes. I was able to find that the problem seems to be starting right there in the "add to cart" phase.
I had a previous install of 1.3.9 and SBA 4.7, which worked well. Then I succumbed to pressure from the core developers to upgrade to 1.5.0 before I realized that SBA was not going to be available. There are lots of opinions about what a good installer "should" do and here's an example of where they are unfortunately quite conflicting. Here's my install:
http://bearhawkstore.com
If anyone has any suggestions about what I can do to fix it, or how I can provide more information to get a better answer, I'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
This add-on looks extremely useful, but I'm not sure if it will address my needs. Hopefully those who have used it can help me before I go through the pain of installing it unnecessarily.
The issue I have is our store will be selling fabric. Each product can be sold in 3 different sizes (quarter metre, half metre or metre).
We purchased in 5 metre "bolts", which equates to 20 quarter metre pieces, so initial stock level shows as "20 Units". We need the stock to be adjusted accordingly, so if for example someone purchases 2 metres, stock is reduced by 8 units, half metre only reduces stock by 2 units, etc.
In a fresh v150 install, the attributes sort the pricing perfectly but stock is only adjusted by the total quantity regardless of attribute chosen.
Will this add-on help me? If not, will any others that anyone is aware of?
All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
You are right this mod isn't going to solve your problem because I don't think you need to use attributes at all let alone an add-on to manage stock by attributes..
Why are you using attributes for this product at all?? If you are selling a product where 1 unit = 1/4 meter, and I choose 8 units this would be 2 meters correct?? If I choose 2 units, this is a 1/2 meter. If I choose 4 units, then this is 1 meter. So what is the need for attributes here?? I think if you have clear product descriptions your customers will understand that 1 unit is equal to 1/4 meter.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
I'm having an incredibly weird problem, hopefully someone can help me out...
I've installed this module, but all attribute combinations show as "out of stock". I have size/color combinations. The backend works just fine, I can normally add stock for each combination and everything gets stored in the DB just fine. But, when I go to my product page, there are no combinations available. so, to make sure, I disabled the Dynamic Dropdowns and tried adding ie. Black / Small to cart. When I go to shopping cart page, it says that combination is out of stock. I enabled "Show available stock level in cart when less than order" and it says "Stock available: 0". But, the DB clearly shows some stock.
Does anyone have ANY ideas? I triple checked includes/functions_lookups.php and includes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php and everything seems to be fine.
Here are two screenshots:

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
I can't seem to find the page now, but there's some page somewhere that explains what changes need to be made to a module to make it work with 1.5. That page also mentions that files in admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes are ignored. I noticed there's still a file in there with this module... Is it being used or could it safely be deleted?

Thanks, was able to download it and test it out on my site. Works great on the dropdown attributes but as mentioned in this thread doesn't work for my text field attributes. Looking forward to when someone is able to work that out!

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
So I've been playing with this and sadly I'm not sure I will be able to use it across the board because of some shortcomings I have discovered.
SBA v5.0 like previous SBA versions do seem to support products with "optional" attributes. "Optional" attributes are attributes which would not used to track stock. They would be things that are "enhancements" to a product such as monograms, packaging options, customization options, etc. For example if I purchase a tablecloth which is stock based on size and color, and selected the option for adding a monogram. This is not possible with previous versions of SBA, and this version is no exception.
Additionally this add-on seems to turn ALL of my attributes into dropdown attributes so matter what option type for the attribute actually is. With SBA v5.0 they all "taste like chicken" in that they are ALL converted on the front end into dropdowns.
This behavior is also applied to any products where I DO NOT create product variants (because the stock is not tracked by a product variant). So If I create a product with a text attribute and do not create a product variant for this product, ALL the attributes will appear as sequenced dropdowns.

Are you sure SBA is doing this and not Dynamic Dropdowns? Make a simple test - change includes/templates.../tpl_modules_attributes.php and use the default one so that DD aren't utilized. I understand there are some downsides to this, but on the other hand, you could add a stock table which directly shows which combinations are in stock...

Of course it's dynamic dropdowns doing this.. However since Dynamic Dropdowns, is fully integrated as a part of the SBA v5.0 codebase, this is a FLAW and a fairly serious one I'd say since this implementation forces the shop owner to choose between sequenced attributes and fully functioning attributes.. Dynamic Dropdowns, sequenced attributes or whatever the feature is called should not arbitrarily change ALL attributes to dropdowns and apply the sequenced attribute behavior to them...
It's too bad the Dynamic Dropdowns function only works with dropdown type attributes, but IMHO it's MORE okay to use the feature with only one attribute type than the current behavior. I was prepared to have my client convert all of her radiobutton and checkbox attributes to dropdowns. The issue is for products for which stock is NOT tracked by product variants, she cannot use any other product attribute types because SBA v5.0 "converts" them all to dropdowns and applies the sequenced attributes behavior to them. That's a flaw, and I'd daresay it would be problematic for A LOT of shopowners as there really isn't a workaround using SBA v5.0.

Re: Stock by Attributes 5.0 Beta (for v1.5.0)
Is there a way to make 1.5.0 work with SBA without regard for dynamic menus? I'm not really interested in having dynamic drop downs, I'm just trying to get back to the functionality that I had from old SBA versions before updating to 1.5.0. Should I be watching for a different contribution, or is this version constructed in such a way that I can take that part out?

I need this to work as well. We need to keep track of stock on hand as well as provide for freeform text and file uploading for mongramming.

Don't take this wrong, but HOW?? You provide little or no information in your post to say HOW it works the way you need.. As has been reported, SBA v5.0 does NOT work with products with attributes which are not tracked by attribute variants or products which have "optional" attributes. (And based on your first post it sounds like you have those)
So it would help others following this post if you could provide more details (and even a link to your site so we can see) on how it "works exactly" the way you need.. What does it do, how did you configure the add-on to get to this result..

Sorry about the confusion.. I do need a function that will track stock by attribute, but allow for text or file upload attributes as well. I am work with a a company that sells apparel that can be monogrammed. They want to keep track of the inventory(ie: size and color)and let the buyer select the pieces they want and then upload a logo or text to embroidered on the shirt(s) they select.
