Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
First mistake found- There's a bug in the update.sql. If uploaded a new version to the contributions and am attaching the corrected version here.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Andrew
Not sure if I missed it, but is there a way to prevent "gift certeficates" from counting toward points ? otherwise it's a double wammy
second, I am using the latest beta, do I need to re-run upgrade.sql ?

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
And BTW, my site is live and running the contribution .. if anybody wishes to check it out :)

No- it should work straight out of the box.
I'll check the GV issue, thanks for the heads up.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hem,
For some reason, I still have the same problem I had when I installed the old version regarding the account/login page. It has nothing to do with orders.php but im not sure which file causes it.
The problem is that there is too much space between the title and the text form. I have Easy Sign Up and Login installed.
Thx

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Is there any way to make it so that the maximum amount of Reward Points redeemed cannot exceed the subtotal?
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Feature Request -- the ability to select how many Reward Points to spend..

If you go to Admin|Catalog|Reward Points, you can set teh Point value for ALL products and also set different Point values for categories and/or individual products.
For Example, we give 2 points for every dollar spent on books or PDFs. Except for one group of Cloth Bound books, where we give 6 points per dollar spent, and Gift Certificates which get/give zero points when purchased.

Hello,
Attached an image to show the changes after the mod was installed. Not sure which file caused it but probably one of the file under "includes" folder.
Thx

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
andrew,
I am using your new "update.sql" in this post.
Do I have to update the Database?
When I use the update.sql, the system shows:
"1050 Table 'reward_master' already exists
in:
[RENAME TABLE reward_product_points TO reward_master;]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields."
any idea?

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
andrew,
I try the paypal again, it still not working in paypal mod:
1. make a $30 order, use the $20 point to check out, customer paid $10 in credit card via paypal. But both customer and admin didn't receive the confirmation email.
Customer didn't receive the 30 ponit in pending either.
anyone tried the paypal?

andrew, paypal is not working in point mod
I try the paypal again, it still not working in paypal mod:
1. make a $30 order, use the $20 point to check out, customer paid $10 in credit card via paypal.
1.1) both customer and admin didn't receive the confirmation email.
1.2) Customer didn't receive the 30 ponit in pending either.
2. make another order and check out via paypal withour using point.
2.1) all received comfimation email
2.2) still No points in pending
Conclusion:
Use paypal to check out, no points in pending.
Use point to check out via paypal, no points in pending. no confirmation email. But do have the order number in the admin and history

See the earlier post in this thread regarding the bug with the update.sql file. If this is the first time you've installed the mod then run new.sql not update.sql
Instructions to bypass this bug:
- Go to folder \admin\includes\functions\extra_functions\
- Rename reward_points_functions.php to reward_points_functions.xxx
- You can now access the Admin CP
- Go to Tools->Install SQL PAtch
- Enter the following SQL: RENAME TABLE reward_points_history TO reward_status_track
- Then rename reward_points_functions.xxx back to reward_points_functions.php
Note: This will not work if you use prefixes on your database. In this case either run new.sql or rename the table using phpmysql

Fiji- I've checked out the functionality of the PayPal mod that comes with ZenCart and it does work. Is there any chance that you have installed another mod that has changed or overwritten the checkout_process.php file???

That'll work- but be aware it will screw up the formating of the Redeem Point display in the checkout.

If you use a prefix in your table names (iE mine is zen_) then you would need to change that SQL statement to read:
Code:
RENAME TABLE `zen_reward_point_history` TO `zen_reward_status_track`;
If your prefix is different you just replace zen_ with yours. Then run it. It should make the change then.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Something odd......
IF I try to place an order using Reward Points, and I ALSO try to use a Gift Certificate as well (if the GC amount is not higher than entire order), it requires me to select a billing method. If the GC and the Redeem amounts are (combined) more than the entire order, it still requires me to select a payment method.
However, if I try to place the order with JUST a Gift Certificate, and the GC amount is larger than the order, then I don't have to select a payment method.
So... whatever it doing the check as to whether payment method is required to be select isn't including the amount to be redeemed in it.
Also -- regarding my issue with Rewards Points and the redeeming applying towards shipping....
I found the following code in ot_rewards_points.php -- in the process() function
Quote:
if(isset($_SESSION['redeem_value']))
{
$points_redeeming=GetCustomersRewardPoints($_SESSION['customer_id']);
if(REWARD_POINTS_REDEEM_MAXIMUM>0 && $points_redeeming>REWARD_POINTS_REDEEM_MAXIMUM)
$points_redeeming=REWARD_POINTS_REDEEM_MAXIMUM;
$redeem_ratio=GetRedeemRatio($_SESSION['customer_id']);
$points_worth=$points_redeeming*$redeem_ratio;
$order_total = $order->info['total'];
if($points_worth>$order_total)
{
$points_worth=$order_total;
$points_redeeming=zen_round($points_worth/$redeem_ratio,2);
}
$order->info['total']=zen_round($order->info['total']-$points_worth, 2);
$this->output[] = array('title' => MODULE_ORDER_TOTAL_REWARD_POINTS_VALUE,
'text' => '-'.$currencies->format($points_worth),
'value' => $points_worth);
$_SESSION['redeem_value']=$points_redeeming;
}
I have marked the two lines that I consider important in color-- the lines which show that the file is working on the Order Total, not on the Order Subtotal, which is what I am needing.
Wait! I just NOW (while writing this) figured out, that if I change $order->info['total'] to $order->info['subtotal'] in the Blue line, then that limits the number of points redeemed to be no more than the Subtotal, and thus, it will solve my issue about redeeming points also discounting the shipping.
I also have the problem where folks whose orders are being changed from Pending to Paid are not updating and moving the points from Pending to Earned. However I also had the admin email notification turned off, so I have set it to an email address I created just for it, and turned it on in the Configuration area, so maybe that will get the points to change properly.
This is a great module!! And I am loving it immensely!! :clap: I just hope you can help get my other issues worked out. :D
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Quote:
Look at the image I posted. The Total = Subtotal + Shipping - Reward Point
I had thought it was (and am wanting it to be)
Total = (Subtotal - Reward Point) + Shipping
So, if I have an $8.50 book, and Shipping costs $3.13 and I have 1000 Reward Points, that my final total is $3.13, NOT $1.63 (as shown in the image I posted)
I see what you mean now. I never noticed that before. All my testing I never had the amount to redeem exceed the subtotal. Good catch.
I'm not a coder so I'm not sure what the side effects will be on changing the code from:
Code:
$order_total = $order->info['total'];
to
Code:
$order_total = $order->info['subtotal'];
I guess that's what test sites are for :smile:

You need the email turned on. I always forget to turn it on, on my local test site and when I do, it wont award points or change points when a status change is made from admin without it on. I think andy said some where that it's hooked to the email function so it needs to be on. I maybe wrong, but it works for me if it is.

From the looks of the code, the blue line sets a variable which is then used to determin how many Reward Points are redeemed. I didn't see it used anywhere else in that function (and since it was declared inside the function, that makes it a local variable, not a global).
As for email -- I turned it on, and setup an account to catch the notifications. And after doing that, I had a person place an order, earning himself 88 RP -- he paid with a CC, not Paypal -- so this isn't a Paypal issue.
Anyways, the new account received the notification email just fine. But the RP were not moved from Pending to Earned (sunrise is set to zero).
I did test and manually changing the Order Status did get the points to move from Pending to Earned.

Have you tested it using check or money order? That is how I have tested it and it works that way. I have not done it any other way on my test site since it's local and I can't get my other payments to work local. Also how are your triggers set? In other words, what status change is needed to move it from Pending to Earned?
I guess I will have to setup a test account on the online server so I can test this with my other payment options before I make the changes to the live store.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
The only methods of payment on the Store are via Credit Card (we use Linkpoint), and Paypal (and nobody has paid using Paypal since we implemented this).
As for the triggers, I used the Advanced and they are set as follows:
Pend: [Pending, Canceled] Earn: [Paid, Shipped, Update,
Printed]
And I have the Order Status of "Testing" set to "Ignore"
Completed CC orders are set to "Paid" (same for completed Paypal Orders -- Paypal only remains "Pending" if the person uses echeck, which takes several days to process before the money is released into the account).
(note: and yes, I am on a live store...)

How do you set up how much is a point worth? For example, 1 point = 2 pence?

I like the way RCnut clarified it in his FAQ's:
Quote:
Points and Values
Currently, for every £1.00 spent at RC NUT you'll earn 1.00 point. Each point is worth £0.02 off a future purchase.
For example:
Product Cost: £250.00
Value of Points Earned: £5.00

The redeem value is set in admin>Customers>Group Reward Redeem. You can set it globally or create a group and set it for that group.

Same here. By the way, how do you send someone points?

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hmmm.
Trying to install on my local site and I get this error when trying to access admin
1146 Table 'nortsandones.reward_status_track' doesn't exist
in:
[SELECT ph.*, o.orders_status FROM reward_status_track ph, orders o WHERE ph.orders_id=o.orders_id AND ph.date If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
I renamed the custom folder to the same as mine, and then uploaded both the admin and includes. But as soon as I try and do anyting in Admin, it throws up the above error. ?
What steps did I miss ?

If you, as admin, want to give a person some points (beyond what they earn), the go to Admin|Customers|Reward Points, and then find and edit the customer.
My boss gave everybody on our store 1000 points to begin with (and then I had another 83 that I need to give even more to) -- i.e. every got 1000 points, those who had purchased more than $500 since 2002 (I have the records from the old online store, pre-zen) got additional points - equal to 2x the dollar amount that they spent.
So for the "everybody gets 1000 points, I did a sql statement and ran it and then have been working on editing the others since then.

Mike, read back through this thread
Basically, that is an issue with the sql file and IF you have a DB prefix in use.

Nice work Rasyr- I'll refactor the code to use subtotal. There's another instance in class.reward_points.php which looks like it's causing the other issue you flagged.
Regarding the email thing- It should not matter if you have email turned off- the notifier should still be called. I'll look at using another notifier.
Don't worry- we'll get the issues worked out- thanks again.

The prefix isn't on the DB name, it is on the DB table names. (i.e. the configuration table might be names zen_configuration).
You can look inside your includes/configure.php file to see if the store thinks you are using a DB Prefix -- for a line that says something like:
Quote:
define('DB_PREFIX', 'zen_');
It it isn't that you need to rename the sql file, it is that you may need to make changes to it and rerun it (if your DB is using a prefix).
Here is the post that I was referring to finding -- http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...7&postcount=19
I don't think that you need to be renaming that file you are listing at all.

Thanks Rasyr, appreciate your help on this,
Ok..
I checked the file as you suggested and it's as follows.
define('DB_PREFIX', '');
So we can assume that there is no prefix..
The problem is, that I can't even run the sql file to begin with.
I uploaded the files, and then when I try and enter the Admin CP, thats when I get the error, so I can't even run the sql to begin with, so modifying the sql is not going to help ?
Sorry....

Exactly as it shows- change the extension to 'xxx'- that will stop it causing the error until you can do the SQL table rename.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
And.... Paypal - Customer did not get the points that he should have had added into the Pending list (let alone the Earned).
So, the problem with Paypal customers not being awarded their points is happening with me as well.
We use Paypal IPN.

I uploaded the files, and then when I try and enter the Admin CP, thats when I get the error, so I can't even run the sql to begin with, so modifying the sql is not going to help ?
Sorry....
Ahh.. do what Hem says right after your last post (I had missed somebody being told that earlier apparently).
Which sql file did you run the first time? And did you have the module installed before this (from your comments, it sounds like no).

NONE !!!!....... I cant even run an sql file to begin with.... as I cant get into my Admin CP
(as posted three times...)
This is my first attempt at using this particular mod, as I was waiting for it to come out of Beta... So I haven't tried running it before, or uploaded any sql files associated with this mod before
(Excuse my apparent frustration...)
I tried that thanks Andrew, and it still throws up the same error.
1146 Table 'nortsandones.reward_status_track' doesn't exist
in:
[SELECT ph.*, o.orders_status FROM reward_status_track ph, orders o WHERE ph.orders_id=o.orders_id AND ph.dateIf you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
Even tried renaming it completely to just bob.php and no luck..
What else could possibly be wrong.
Steps taken..
Renamed the custom file in your includes files to similate that of my custom template correct ?
Uploaded the admin and include folders. correct ?
I've uploaded plenty of mods and to be honest, this is the first that has not worked.. Thank god I'm doing it on my local site.
I really want to get this working as it (looks) like a great Mod.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Ok.. got it..!!
I just completely removed the rewards_points_functions.php file
Then I was able to get into Admin CP and I've put that file back. so Now I'll take the next step and see how I go..
Perserverence sure does pay off..

Now getting the following error when I try to enter the Rewards Points section under Customers in Admin

If your prefix is different you just replace zen_ with yours. Then run it. It should make the change then.
Where do I find my prefix?

If this is the first time you've installed the mod, just run the new.sql under Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patch

Mike- reload admin/includes/functions/extra_functions/reward_points_functions.php- It looks like something (possibly Notepad) has stuck in an unwanted line break.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi
Mike_Dean a few posts back posted that he had a problem at
Admin->Customer->RewardPoints. I seem to have the same one.
1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SELECT SUM(rp.reward_points) FROM zen_reward_status_track rp WHERE cp.customers_' at line 1

Tried to a reload of the file suggested and no luck. Redownloaded again and still no luck.
Everything was fine up to the first test sale and then this appeared in Admin
Any further suggestions?

Did you enable the Reward Point sidebox (and/or Cart with Reward Point sidebox) under Admin->Tools->Layout Box Controller???
Also you will need to enable the Redeem Reward Point Order Total box under Admin->Modules->Order Total

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Andrew?? Any luck figuring out why Paypal IPN purchasers are not receiving their points (even just as Pending like the CC customers)?
I can live with manually approving the Reward Points for a while, but I really do need the Paypal customers to get their RPs in Pending like they are supposed to.
Thanks

I will have to set up a PayPal IPN Payment mod onto my test rig and then work out how to setup the sandbox so I can test it.

That shows that at least three of the mod files have not been copied to your site- includes/modules/sideboxes/custom/reward_points.php and shopping_cart_with_reward_points.php and includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/custom/reward_points.php
I would hazard a guess that you have not copied the files correctly into your custom folders.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
hi,
Just install live version of the mod and working great.
i've question, my store have one product with two different fixed prices. i set base price to 0 and automatically the lowest attributes price will be the base price but my problem is the reward points also goes to 0 if i set base price 0.
so.. how to setup the mod to read the points from attributes price. anyone can help me.
anyway, thanks to andrew for the superb mod.

It looks like IPN handles the order status differently. I checked out:

Looks like I've got a bit of digging to do.

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
I haven't had to time to check this out yet, but I have just noticed that since installing this mod, its knocked out my Tabbed products mod that was installed ?
Without this RP mod, the Tabbed products '(TPL) mod works OK, but with this mod, the tabs disappear ?
Has anyone else noticed this.. ?
Could be an issue with my custom folders, like I said, haven't had time to fully check, but thought I'd mention it though

Mike, that's because both mods make changes to the tpl_product_info_display.php file. I've attached a version that combines both mods- extract it to includes\templates\YOUR CUSTOM FOLDER\templates\

Tnaks Andrew,
Nice try but it did not work, I ended up with a blank page on the product info.
I had a look at the file and saw reference to tabbed_products_pro. I'm using Tabbed Products Lite.
Would that casue a difference ?
I did change the first line to look for tabbed_products_lite.php.
It put the product info back on the page, but still without tabs..

Mike, according to the Contribution page for Tabbed Products Lite, it says that it's been superseded by Tabbed Products Pro- so you might want to look into upgrading...
Anyway, if you want to continue using the lite version you can do what I did to merge the files by using WinMerge (it's free and easy).

Ok.. I got the tabs back and RP running together. Yeah..! :smile::smile:
Another road block.. the Add to Cart button that used to reside above the tabs has dissappeared.. It's there pre RP, but with RP in, its gone.
-
Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hello,
Mike, it is better that you upgrade to Tabbed Products Pro. Once you have, use tpl_product_info_display.php from this contrib rather than using the one from Reward Points mod as it is a lot easier this way.
Then on the same file from the Reward Points mod, find the code
<!--bof Product Reward Points block -->
<h2 id="productRewardPoints" class="productRewardPoints">
<?php
/**
* display the product reward points
*/
include($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_product_reward_points.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_product_reward_points.php');
?>
</h2>
<!--eof Product Reward Points block -->
Copy and paste this on the same file anywhere you want the reward points to appear but this time from the Tabbed Products contrib.
That's the way I have done mine and everything is working.
All the best

Perhaps it has something to do with whether or not they return to the site afterwards (though I would think that most do, since we sell PDFs, and they have to return to download them).
Another issue --
We gave everybody on the store 1,000 Reward Points (i.e. $10.00). One fellow went and purchased $10 worth of products, and it still wanted him to select a Payment option (even with a zero balance), and Paypal won't process anything with a zero balance....
Tons of fun... hehe :D

yeah, 1 person out of like 4 that used Paypal ended up with point in the Pending category (still, they never moved to earned automatically though).
And to make it interesting, the day before, somebody else order the exact same thing (specific book with a bundled PDF) and he didn't get any points.
And a guy who just ordered and paid through paypal didn't get his points put into Pending (or Earned)
Aha! A pattern emerges!!! All of the Paypal purchasers who did NOT receive their points in Pending (we can worry about them being automatically moved to Earned later) had a "Trans. type" of "unique". The guy who's purchase gave him his RP in Pending had a "Trans. Type" of "web_accept".
That has to be significant somehow....

Rasyr- I will look into the transaction type and see what relevance it has.
Regarding your earlier comment about paying with PayPal but not returning to your site- As the PayPal return is to checkout_process.php, then there will be no reward of points unless this is run. Unfortunately the points cannot be rewarded before PayPal is called otherwise the customer could end up with RP even if they cancel the PayPal transaction
Question- If I remember rightly, you use phpmysql- Could you check the reward_status_track table and see if any of the "non appearing" transactions are there (but with zero points in pending or earned)- Might add another piece to the jigsaw.
-

Andrew,
I mention before the paypal problem.
I test many times and the paypal returning to my site and create an order sucessful. Everything is working well.
The only problem is no pending point and no earned point.
You can try the paypal via sandbox.

Actually I use mySQL Front (a stand-alone app).
And in looking, no, the Paypal orders (with the transaction type of "unique) are not in that table.

I could have swore it worked before, I know I tested it .. but it was with the beta, wonder fi somthing changed, but when changing order status with Super Orders, it will not redeem the credits (when moving order to status that should redeem)

It should work- As long as Super Orders changes the order status (which I track on) the sync should change the point redeem also.
I think I might have to stick version tracking into the code headers- Might help with all the old versions/new versions to make sure we're all singing off the same hymn sheet.

Code:

$order_total = $order->info['subtotal'];
I guess that's what test sites are for :smile:
Hi PTC..
Did the mod on this code work ? I dont want people to be able to redeem points against shipping fees, only against the goods.
So I'm curious if this worked, if so, which file was it that you changed ?

Re: Reward Points Module- Live Release now available.
Hi,
Is there a way to set the minimum order value that must be reached before Reward Points can be used ?
Eg, Can I set a minimum say $100 order value before a customer can use points ?
Cheers,
Mike

Yes- it's in the Reward Point configuration and is called 'Reward Point Redeem Minimum'.
