HTML Display Problem, Seeming Illogical

All of our products are in separate categories under "featured selections." I recently added a new category, exactly the same way as I frequently do. For some reason, the products in the category when viewed on the website do not display plain text. In other words, the shortened description of products listed in this category on the website, before you click on one specifically, but when they are all displayed with the first paragraph of their descriptions, is displayed as a jumble of html coding and not plain text. I can't find a reason for this, or any settings to tinker with that directly address the problem. Also, if you click on the products and view the individual complete description, it is cut off halfway down the second paragraph. If I go back to Zen Cart, the description is suddenly cut off there as well. This occurs only after I upload the products. What should I do to make this not happen any more and to fix this annoying situation?

Well it might be the software you are creating and cutting and pasting the product description from.......there is a lot of garbage there
