Trouble Setting Up Downloads
Hi, I've been trying to set up my downloads section. Boy, there's a lot of steps.
Well, I've made it through a lot, but when I get to the attributes controller, I get an error message.
First, the directions say to upload the file to "catalog/download". I don't have a "catalog" folder, but I do have a download folder in the main directory. Should I upload it there?
After I did that, I hit "Insert" and got this error:
Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match - Attribute was not added - File Download : jpeg Image
Any suggestions on the next step I should take?
Jim
Re: Trouble Setting Up Downloads
yes the download folder is the right place to upload the files.
Re: Trouble Setting Up Downloads

well how is this downloads problem?
Re: Trouble Setting Up Downloads
Steps to applying download attributes :
1) Upload the downloadable file to your /download folder (shop/download if your shop is in a folder)
2) Set an OPtion name ( Download Now ) and make it a radio button or checkbox that is on by default.
3) Set an option value (JPEG Image / GIF Image . etc.)
4) Match the attribute to the product and at the bottom type in the name of the downloadable file (THISIMAGE.jpg) and how many downloads / days ( this is all at the bottom of the attributes controller page)
If it errors on the file, it's because Zen can't find the file in the downloads folder.
Hope that helps :)
Re: Trouble Setting Up Downloads
In zencart, default folder for downloads is /download (without the last s)
Also works much better, if files(i.e images,mp3's etc etc) are added to zip file/s

Duhhhh = thanks for the correction Misty...
Where's that coffee cup :D
Re: Trouble Setting Up Downloads
Note: Option Names for Downloads in 99% of the cases should be Radiobuttons or Dropdowns and not checkboxes ...
Checkboxes allow the customer to uncheck them and not get the download ... only in some cases is this really the desired effect ...
NOTE: Always use a default setting on a download so that the customer receives one
IF you add the Product to the shopping cart and do not see the download attribute referenced ... you have something not set up correctly ...

do you see his problem now? I think he has not even created option/values for download and/or does not understand what are they (for).
Re: Trouble Setting Up Downloads
Thanks for the help everyone. Well, makc, I was reading a whole lot of directions that told me to edit the option names/values. That's where I ran into the problem.
I think I may have found exactly what I did wrong. Instead of doing "Radio" or "Checkbox", I did "File". To tell you the truth, I didn't know which one to choose, so I just thought, "Well, they're downloading a file- I'll choose that one!"
Thanks for the help and I'll write back with my results.
