2 different kinds of categories?
Hi folk,
Just in the early process of setting up. Here's the situation...
Products: greeting cards with fine art images
Categories 1: landscape, angels, sympathy, Christmas, etc.
Categories 2: artist name 1, artist name 2, 3, 4, etc.
Purchasers often want to browse the first kind of category to see what they might discover -- say, all the images of angels, no matter who the artist is. But returning customers may want to see all cards with images from the same artist no matter what kind of image it is; lanndscape, angels, whatever. In other words, they'd want to use the second kind of category.
It's easy to create all the categories of both kinds. But how can I separate them in the boxes (which is where I want the categories to be listed). I'd like a box called Categories and another called Artists, with the appropriate list of categories in each.
Can anyone suggest how I can set this up? Maybe I have to apply a class to one set of category names -- perhaps class="artist" -- but how to do that?
TIA
Rob
Re: 2 different kinds of categories?
In and effort to be complete, I probably made this question sound more difficult than it really is. I just need to know if there is a way to make some of my categories appear in one of the side boxes and some other categories appear in a different side box.
Anyone know how to do that?
Rob
Re: 2 different kinds of categories?
Could you set up your artists as manufacturers?
Re: 2 different kinds of categories?
Now that's an interesting thought!
It certainly won't interfere in any way, since I wasn't planning on using the manufacturers listing for its usual purpose. We do our own manufacturing.
I'll give it a try and see what happens.
Thanks
Rob
