Product ID's at the end of URL's?
Hey there.
First time managing a "Zen Cart" for a customer. We have had his old site upgraded to a Zen Cart based site by a third party developer who have done a great job.
The thing I am finding off is the URI's that Zen Cart is producing.
productname-c-6.html instead of the old
productname.html
Is this normal for Zen Cart - and is there anyway to turn it off so it goes back to the old URL's which have a very long SEO history and many backlinks, which are now broken.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Re: Product ID's at the end of URL's?
Zen Cart out-of-the-box doesn't produce URLs that look like that. They would be /index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6 instead.
Your site evidently has one of many so-called SEO addons installed. You will need to configure the addon according to your desired outcome.
Re: Product ID's at the end of URL's?
Ah yes sorry forgot to mention that. It does have a SEO addon installed. In the drop-down Configuration Menu it's just called SEO URLs.
Doesn't seem to be anything to produce a nice clean URL.
Any ideas?
Appreciate the help.
Re: Product ID's at the end of URL's?
I haven't used any of them, but I understand Conor's CEON URI Mapping allows you to have clean URLs without the -c-6. It is also silly to have .html at the end of these, since it is not a static HTML page and the search engines will at best ignore that and at worst be confused by it; and it is meaningless bulk in describing the content to people.
Re: Product ID's at the end of URL's?
If you are concerned about dropping the .html from URLs, a rule in an .htaccess file should be able to handle that. CEON URI may have that ability built in.
