catch 22 on admin login

I just completed the reinstallation of zen cart. When I attempt to login to admin program. I receive the message "Username or password are incorrect. I go to resend password and put in the email address "[email protected]" I receive the following message.
mail Error: Could not instantiate mail function. Please check Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Email Transport

How can I go to Admin when I can't get into admin logon?

I am sure that I put the right information in the admin logon. I cleared out all cookies and the cache.

You may have to do an "admin password reset" ... you can find an FAQ on that in the FAQs area ... assuming your admin configure.php file is pointing to the correct/real database.
