So I guess you fixed it?
Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Yes, I edited init_image_handler.php as mentioned in an earlier post and that fixed the installation.
Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Good evening folks.
I have one that is driving me crazy.
FYI - I've read the complete install instructions (again).
FYI - I've read this complete support thread (also again) and have not found this one. So here goes:
Our image files are mass uploaded into the following folder structure:
images/inventory/product-sub-directory/productname.jpg
(e.g.
images/inventory/mtj0178/mtj0178.jpg (product 178 primary image)
images/inventory/mtj0178/mtj0178_1.jpg (product 178 second image)
images/inventory/mtj0178/mtj0178_2.jpg (product 178 third image)
images/inventory/mtj0180/mtj0180.jpg (product 180 primary image)
images/inventory/mtj0180/mtj0180_1.jpg (product 180 second image)
etc.)
All products that were in place before the installation of IH4 work wonderfully. IH4 found all of them, created the necessary images (in bmz_cache), and properly passes them to the viewer when needed.
Unfortunately when we upload a new set of images to the site, then edit the new products, the images will not show up.
The image listed in the edit field is correct, and if I go to that directory (using FileZilla) the image is indeed there and accessible.
I've verified that all directories under bmz_cache and images have permissions of 755. (I even tried 777, with no luck.)
Since we have too many images to do one at a time, we use FileZilla to upload to the site directly, then point the image to them (as above.)
Using IH4 to upload the images, they are placed in:
images/inventory/mtj0178.jpg
images/inventory/mtj0178_1.jpg
images/inventory/mtj0180.jpg
images/inventory/mtj0180_1.jpg
etc.
and not in the directories that we wish to have them in.
Does anyone see what I'm not seeing here as to why the images will not show up?
Thank you for your time and wizdom.
ALG
P.S.
I have noticed that in all instructions there are only two directories deep:
/images/doodads/silver_doodat1.jpg
/images/widgets/red_widget.jpg
and so on.
Are we limited to only 2 levels deep in the directory structure?
ALG
Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Have I posted this in the wrong place? I've never seen two full days go by without any comment. A first, for sure.

Zen is limited to one level of subdirectories and by default will NOT upload any deeper.
It is possible to "fudge" around that limitation but not reliably imo
I suspect that IH4 works to the zen standards of one subdirectory level in images

Thanks for the info. I did not know that.
It has been working great, including with IH4 added, until we tried to upload additional products.
This is going to get real messy with as many products and the multiple images for same. All in the same directory is not going to be good, as I see it now.
Can I put my vote in for extending the number of directories (in Zen and IH4)?

Speaking for myself, my real life comes before this forum, and I've got a lot going on.. Perhaps others are in the same boat??

Like other open source projects, this support forum is manned by VOLUNTEERS (ie: unpaid folks). They are not OBLIGATED to assist here, but they do so because they WANT to. They give of their time here when their individual schedules permit. Usually the response is pretty quick 'round these parts, but when it’s not or your question has gone unanswered this may mean one of a few things:
- NO ONE has an answer to your question/issue.
(Some folks will only respond when they have something MEANINGFUL to say versus a blanket “I don’t know how to do that” kind of answer.) - Folks are just busy and will answer if/when they can..
(family and other personal obligations, day jobs, paid jobs, etc will usually trump forum participation – this is to be expected – after all it’s unrealistic to expect that folks are sitting around this forum all day and night waiting to answer questions) - Your question got missed. (and while I’m on this point) Your post MIGHT have been missed if your post is now a FEW pages back (like more than TWO or more pages) with no response.. Missed does NOT mean “it’s been an hour and no one responded to my question, so let me 'bump' the thread by re-posting my question again”
You are correct.. Image Handler has always worked with Zen Carts default image management. So if Zen only supports one sub directory level, then that's what Image Handler supports too.

Speaking for Image Handler, this add-on historically has always worked WITH default Zen Cart image management as an enhancement to the default functionality.. There's no intent to change that philosophy. Image Handler will continue to work this same way. So if/when Zen Cart changes, so too will Image Handler..
That said you may want to consider checking into hiring a developer to add this functionality if your business really needs it..
