master product sub product - no attributes
hi,
just experimenting as i don't like attributes, can anybody see any issues i would run into having master products and sub products, so instead of attributes you would enter a sub product in the same way you enter a product but select its a sub product so it only shows when the master product has been clicked
example here
http://catchagrip.co.uk/masterproduc...&products_id=1
i would need to work on price where it would display the lowest price if one of the subs was on special but any other things i might need to look for
thanks
bryan
Re: master product sub product - no attributes
In the example, the 'sub-products' are just products set as Featured and listed in the re-named Featured Products center column area. Obviously, that would only work if you only sold one product.
'I don't like attributes' doesn't tell us much about what business issue you're trying to solve here.
Re: master product sub product - no attributes
hi,
i dont like attributes because of the stock quantity, i did take a quick look at stock by attributes and this is why im experimenting at the minute, i just changed the code in featured box to quickly take a look at what problems would arise, i sell bicycles with different sizes and each has its own stock and at times different sizes can be on different special price,
on my test site i have 2 products with options
http://catchagrip.co.uk/masterproduc...&products_id=9
http://catchagrip.co.uk/masterproduc...&products_id=1
and 1 without options
http://catchagrip.co.uk/masterproduc...&products_id=4
but at this stage just an experiment as im no expert but if i wanted to do say free shipping on 1 size of a bike i can
probably a total waste of time but just wondering if other than listing the products on site is there anything else might cause problems
