How Can I Get New Products to Show Up On Category Pages?
Okay, I've looked through the forums for the past hour, and haven't found an answer to my question. I've set up my main page so that my "new products" (actually everything in my database) displays randomly beneath the welcoming message. It looks great. :)
Now how can I do the same thing on each of my category pages? Right now it just has the "here's about this page" text, followed by the subtitle text links. And it looks so empty beneath that! I'd like to fill the blank space with three or four rows of "new product" items.
If anyone could help me with this, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks!!
Jo

Unless your template has changed things, all that is done in Admin - Configuration - Index Listing

I'm seeing a bunch of stuff for the index page...but not for the other pages. What am I looking for? I'm using the PinkyWinky template on this particular shopping cart, btw.
Thanks!

I guess we'll need a link to the site to know exactly what you mean by the 'category page' then.
Re: How Can I Get New Products to Show Up On Category Pages?
The person who owns the site doesn't want the url released to anyone at all until it's ready to go live. Sorry. :( This is the best I can do:
Index.php - has introductory text and "new products" properly listed below.
-- Category1.php - has descriptive text and text links to the subcategories. Lots of empty space below.
-- -- Subcategory1.php - has product listings, and "new products" properly listed below.
-- -- Subcategory2.php - has product listings, and "new products" properly listed below.
-- -- Subcategory3.php - has product listings, and "new products" properly listed below.
-- Category2.php - has descriptive text and text links to the subcategories. Lots of empty space below.
-- -- Subcategory1.php - has product listings, and "new products" properly listed below.
-- -- Subcategory2.php - has product listings, and "new products" properly listed below.
-- -- Subcategory3.php - has product listings, and "new products" properly listed below.
I'm trying to add "new products" to the category pages. Does that help?
Re: How Can I Get New Products to Show Up On Category Pages?
It's possible I don't understand, but I would check Admin - Configuration - Index Listing - Show New Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories first.
Re: How Can I Get New Products to Show Up On Category Pages?
But that only affects the index page, doesn't it? Or I am misunderstanding "main page"?
~ edited ~ I just tried it, and that didn't do anything. Sorry.

Try going to http://www.stevesh.org/demo and find the equivalent of the page you're talking about there and post the URL.

Admin - Configuration - Index Listing - Show New Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories set to something other than 0 should display New Products, assumimg you have any, and whatever template you're using hasn't removed that section (common with commercial templates).
