where might i modify to get my category product display to look similar to my new products or specials.

There are a few 3rd party addons to modify listing displays
There might be one that is what you want or you can review what is being done and modify it to get the listing you desire
Start by searching for "single listing"
it seems like 'single listing' doesn't touch on product display in the tutorials, any other ideas
