Can't save changes to Configure.php
v1.39h
Windows server (cuz I didn't know better)
So I finally got my wite built on my local server (home PC) and got busy uploading to my host (GoDaddy).
I followed the tutorial and wiki regarding installing fresh copy of Zc onto the server and then transfering my files.
So I try to edit the includes/configure.php and CUSTOM/includes/configure.php as instructed in the installation instructions.
The files won't save.
What I've tried to do:
1.)
I tried changing the permissions on the host to allow editing. GoDaddy's site allows me to change the permissions for a folder and it's contents but not an individual folder.
Still won't save changes.
2.)
Tried downloading the files, editing them on my computer and re-loading. I've made sure to use the overwrite option as well.
Same thing, changes no the files not being saved.
3.)
Deleted the file from the host and uploaded new files.
Same result. the old file is still there.
GoDaddy tech support is able to make changes and they are telling me the problem is on my end.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm getting ready to throw in the towel due to frustration.
Re: Can't save changes to Configure.php
Zen Cart will not run on GoDaddy's windows servers - you need to switch to Linux and preferrably change hosting.
Re: Can't save changes to Configure.php
It's almost certainly a permissions thing.
Will GD let you switch to a Linux server ?
Can you switch to a host whose support people actually know what they're doing ? Of course they can make changes, they have higher level access to the server.
Changing permissions on Windows hosts can be a problem
Re: Can't save changes to Configure.php
Really?!?!
Their techies said it would!
Damnit!
Re: Can't save changes to Configure.php
I get the feeling there's not a lot of luv for Godaddy here.
I've already paid for it so I might as well use it.
Re: Can't save changes to Configure.php
I moved to linux server and no I'm cookin' with gas!
Re: Can't save changes to Configure.php
Hi zenner... I just had this same problem.. and I was able to modify my configure.php... the trick is to rename it to something else, then.. upload your modified one back up to the server.. it worked good.
Also note that I did this in both the admin and zencart \include folder on my site.
So, got the main zen cart site to work.. but I still can't get into the admin site.. its saying my password is not good, but I know it is.
Also, the changed I made to my configure.php file were to add the sub domain to the url's that were in the top of the file.
Hope this helps.
Paul.
