New Status "On Backorder" and email to that effect
I need to add a new status for products that are on backorder, and send the customer an email that the product is on backorder and will be delivered when I receive the stock.
I have added the order status in localizations and I have allowed products to be added to the cart when no stock but how do I go about setting up the email?

When you perform management/admin tasks on the order, you can change the status to the new one you have added, and while you are there, you can select whether the customer is notified of the change of status. This just sends out the "generic" email advising them of the new status, but does not give any further clarification on how you handle backorders.
The email will, however, include any COMMENTS you write in the comments box, so just add whatever message you need to in there...
