I do have a product in, which is what you see under Featured but that product is not showing up in the home section, the section that I want turn off.

Never mind I figured it out.

Catalog>product types>edit layout

I click on a featured product and I still see the shipping weight and the date the product was added. I thought I had turned them off. Where do I go to turn these off?

For anyone with similiar problems. I found out that I uploaded the template in ASCII instead of binary, so that was my problem. I deleted the template and reuploaded in binary.
