I still only have the idea that the template_info.php isn't being read even though...

What I mean is the template_info.php files are not being accessed as clearly files in the classic folder are being accessed (css etc)

Yes I created a new custom folder and amended the template_info.php
and i copied the classic folder and renamed it, changing its template_info.php

The template is easy enough to make i.e copy classic, rename folder and then amend template_info.php

but nothing shows. in [ tools -> template selection. Click the Edit...

Just getting some life back into this as

a) there's no indication that it was resolved and
b) I have this problem in version 1.3.8 July 2010

a) on upgrading to 1.3.9 I got a message saying I needed to upgrade the database even though I had done, so I had to alter the version.php to say expected...
