Is there a way to assign a product to a sub-category by inserting the categories' ID number, insted of writting the whole category?

my database is encoded with utf-8 already. Even if it wasn't, how about the pictures? Could the character encoding affect the pictures?

it didn't work. There's somethind odd going on. If I try to uninstall lightbox, when I click on the picture nothing happens. When lightbox is installed, it opens the picture but non in lightbox....
