I tracked it down to the .htaccess with Simple SEO url being wrong for that host. I'm now with Camelot and found the correct settings by running ssu_check.php and it came up...

According to DrByte your host may have disallowed the exec() function which will hide the button (as you can't do the action). Apparently PHPCGI can be used to enable the exec() function.

I've fixed the problem - it was a permissions issue.

I changed the permission of the images category subfolder (in the case "bags") to 777 and I can upload images without problem.

I moved my site to another domain. When I try to add a new product and choose the "Products image" and click Preview I just get the image coming soon default image.
