Redemption Code for Paper Gift Certificate

I have gift certificates set up in my store available as a gift card that gets shipped to the customer instead of delivered by email.

If the recipient wants to redeem that gift certificate online, how to I allow them to apply the amount to the order? Can I manually assign a Redemption Code?

I've also noticed, in my testing, that the system will not accept the redemption code at checkout, I think this is because once the email is received and the person logs in, that amount is already in their account?

You can send yourself each Gift Certificate so that it can later be redeemed by the customer on your online store with that code ...
