How to ignore sale price and apply group Discount to original product price?

Hey guys!
I am hoping someone here can help me out as usual
I will try to be as specific as I can to make it less confusing hopefully.

I have 2 Groups Pricing discounts set up. I also have 2 sections of products that are currently have specials running for a certain %.

I would like the 2 groups to be able to purchase these products but not at their % off + the sale % off.

Is there a way to 'tell' zen cart to apply the Group Pricing discount to the original Product Price not the sale price (the same way we do when we set up a sale and tell it to 'Ignore Specials Price - Apply to Product Price and Replace Special'.

Any ideas!?

You'd have to write code to get this behavior; nothing is built in.

I have exactly the same problem, and since there seems no way round it, I have sent all my Group Discount members an email stating that they will have a particular discount done manually if they happen to order while this special is on. Bit of a bummer actually. Any other ideas anyone?
