Inserting custom DB query into product listing

I've got quite a unique problem in that I want to display prices on the product listing page and the new products index box that are NOT the actual selling prices for the items.

Let me try and explain...

I want to sell items sold in bulk but want to display the unit (individual) price on certain areas / listings but still checkout with the bulk price.

What I have done so far is to create a custom product entry in the admin product editor for "Item Price" and this writes the price into a custom DB field 'products_itemprice' - so far so good as I can call this DB entry in the product description :)

But I cannot see how to include this field in the product listings page or on the front page new items box?

Ideally it should say "per item:£x.xx" under each product

Any ideas?

I'm still struggling with this after a couple of days

I need to include the DB query for 'products_itemprice' and then somehow put it in the array that displays the product details / price etc on the products listing page and the new products index box...
