Default Installing Blowfish for Protx / web hosting question

    Hi,

Im trying to get Protx working with the blowfish PEAR module.

Iv contacted the web hosts and asked them to install the module which is 'done'.

Running the debug option on Protx, clearly states there is no path to the blowfish module.

Its my understanding that once its installed that Zen cart should automatically connect to it : Blowfish?

I believe there is two ways to include files / modules like this.

    1. through the php.ini file, which is how this should work.
    2. Through php include / require function.

The hosts have now said there may be some kind of charge for this and it sounds like they are putting the emphasis in me to do it.

Surely all they need to do is open up the php.ini file and include the path to the module there? I dont really care about the charge, i just want it working, but my question is am i right in saying it simply needs to be included in the php.ini file?

I had a 'bout with ProTx module and I believe that there is some glitch in it as I could never get it to recognize that Blowfish was installed where it should be.

but there is a second way to do this

This isn't a problem with the Protx module, it does everything it can to help avoid the problem. Your server is blocking access to PEAR from PHP... this is something your hosts should fix!

You must have missed the folllowing section in the FAQs:

"After manually installing the Blowfish files the Admin warning is gone but I get a blank page/errors at checkout!"

    ;)

I've released a new version of the module with further information about what was going wrong.

The new version of the module, 2.4.4, automatically disables encryption when your server is configured badly.

    All the best...
