Default Define Pages. Says file not found

I am trying to use the Define Pages editor to change the default pages but keep getting error that the file is not found. I can clearly see that the file does exist and is exactly where it says it can't be found.

Basically Zen can't see files that are there. New install latest version.

What's wrong and how to fix?

I would start by checking file permissions. I'm not saying that this IS the problem (without seeing it), but it IS a good place to start, as the file MUST be writable.

    Hope this helps.

It is. 777, The installation requires it be so or it will not proceed. Double checked just to be sure. It is not permissions. Besides when I have had a permissions problem a message at the top says the file is not writable. Not that it is not there.

Yes, true about the permissions error. What version ZC are you using? In your error that you're getting, do you see ANY (even a space or comma) difference in the file it's looking for and the file that you have? Have you compared that file with a new "fresh" copy?

Brand new install. But I have the problem solved. It was permissions but the strange part is that the install said they were correct. What I failed to do was open permissions on the actual directory although I did set permissions on all of the actual files.

The install reported them as writable. The define pages editor did not give me an un-writable error as it should have, it said they were not there at all. That is what was confusing me because I could see them and the install check list told me they were writable.

    Go figure....
