Partial refund - paid by gift certificate?

A customer has bought three items and paid via a gift certificate - unfortunately one item is out of stock (I have a retail store as well as a webstore so this can happen!) and I would like to partially refund the customer to her gift certificate account - what is the easiest way of doing this?

The easiest way is to issue her another gift certificate in the amount of the refund you wish to give her.

Admin->Gift Certificates/Coupons->Mail Gift Certificate
