stevesh is right on the mark.
You didn't put Zen Cart in the /catalog folder. It's in the root (public_html), so to get to the install, you'd go to http://www.yoursite.com/zc_install/

They are in a folder called "CATALOG" in my root folder / public_html, this is my root folder correct?
www.mywebsite.com/catalog/zc_install
Is this wrong?
Yes, public_html is the root.

The only way to know for sure is to try both:
Please point your browser to: http://www.yourdomainname.com
And then to http://www.yourdomainname.com/catalog
Don't add the zc_install
Let us know exactly what you see in each case.
I have been having the exact same problem. I have double checked the file permissions and I have the zc_install in my catalog ("store" in my case) directory. When I type http://www.mydomain.com/store (or /store/zc_install) I get a 404 cannot be found error.
Hi,
I had exactly the same problem and after working with matchett64 this afternoon I was finally able to figure out that the problem was that my dns servers were set incorrectly because I recently upgraded my hosting control panel and had to switch dns servers. So if you recently made such a change that might be the problem. The old servers did not have the zen cart directory at all. I resolved it by using my ip address/catalog instead of http://www.mydomain.com/catalog.
Hope that helps!
