    Default Google Checkout & Auto-Created ZenCart Customer: Email Notification Problem

    Hey all,

    I recently performed a level2 GCO integration and everything works great except one final step.

    Zen Cart creates a new customer record for First time GCO buyers during the responsehandler stage. This step is also supposed to notify the customer about their new account, which includes their password.

    SO far, my test users are not receiving this email when they create new accounts. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Your GC customers don't actually create the shop account themselves. The account is created automagically by the GC for ZC mod at the time the customer submits their order.

    When the order is submitted, GC immediately sends an email to the customer containing order details and their new login credentials to your shop. (the mod does not send a CREATE ACCOUNT email message to the customer or to the shop admin...would be nice if it did).

    The login credentials for the customer also appear in the order comments in ZC admin.

    On the GC order page customer can chooses the option to "keep their email address confidential", then the auto generated shop account login name will be similar to"Firstname-RandomString@checkout.google.com". (not their normal email address). This confuses many customers and is a constant customer support issue! So if you offer downloads on your shop best to recommend customers avoid "hiding" their true email address when ordering. And recommend customers change their shop password after logging in the first time.

    I think I narrowed it down. Does the GCO checkout setting: "Allow [STORE] to send you promotional emails" setting have anything to do with these notifications?
