image problem Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable

Please help me... on my admin area, while I select categories, this message appears on the top of the admin area: "Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable:....."

So, if I want to upload a new product images, I cannot upload the product images from admin area. I have to upload it from CP.

Firstly I think that CHMOD of the catalog images folder set to 644, but while I check it was set to 755, this makes a little difficult while I want to upload the product images, I have to upload it on File Managers on CP. Because the field for uploading images doesn't active.

I will be very thankful for those who can gime me some solution for my problem. Thank's...

You would need to set permissions of the 'images' dir. to 777.

Make sure when finished using, to change back to 755.

I am receiving the following error. Not sure why it picked now to show up since I have put in over 400 images and never a problem: Error: Catalog images directory is not writeable: /web/images/ I changed the permissions for the /web/images/ to read and write, but I still get the same error. Can someone help me with that? Thank you.

Sory, have you ever move the datas from one server to other? I have upload more than 400 images but I didn't have a problem like you have.

Changing CHMOD uses number not word. To do it, enter to the file manager using your cpanel, (ex: http://yoursite.com/cpanel) and then go to the directory of images. If you are using the newest version of cpanel, you can use itu using the right click on the folder and choose "change CHMOD." Set the number to 777

I am not sure what "cpanel" is. My web hosting site has an area that is used for setting permissions from within it admin area. Whenever I have and to change file permissions in the past, it has worked fine. I was wondering if there was something else affecting it. I had to make a few changes to allow googlesitemaps mod to work. that is the only change I have made recently.

I am not sure that the changes you made to allow google crawl will affect to the images directory.

There three type of file permission: execute, global, and user. The way to change these types, as I know, in cpanel. May be web hosting server you uses have another way of changing CHMOD.

It's better to ask the customer support of your server, ask him how to set the CHMOD to 777... Good Luck!
