A product info display and navigation problem

At the moment whether a user navigates to the product info page by using the categories or a defined search they are presented with a navigation which (at least on mine) displays the number of products in the category and a previous and next button which take the user to the next product in the category. However if a user does a search and for example that search has 4 results, on clicking on one of the products and going to that product's info page they will still see a display of the total products in the category that particular product is in and the previous and next buttons will only navigate them to products in that category.

On the product info page I just want to display the number of the product in sequence of the search and total products found and navigate with the products relating to the search..

I hope that this is clear .. any helpers will really come in handy!!

You would have to customize the code to use the search results and not the category results ...
