Default Adding attributes as I'm creating products

Has anyone come up with a mod to allow us to add pre-created attributes to a product as it is being input on the new product screen?

This would save SO much time if I could simply make the attributes I need, then as I'm adding products assign the appropriate attributes.

If you already have a product, with necessary attribute/s,
can be copied to another product, via zencart admin..

Thanks but that's not what I was asking about.

I'm aware of the "normal" way to add attributes. I was asking of anyone has made any add-ons that would simplify the process.

It would be really great to be able to define the commonly used attributes and then simply assign them as products are being input into the system.

What I mean by that is that as I'm inputting a products data that I could simply choose my attributes for it at the very same time. This would save enormous amounts of mouse clicks.

Is there anything like that available?

    Thanks

Problem is that your own "commonly used" attributes are not necessarily the "commonly used" attributes that other people have set up...

...to date, there have been over 1 million downloads of ZC software. Let's assume that 1 in 10 of these have resulted in a working webshop...

... that's 100,000 webshops - and if each applies 2 or 3 attributes of their own, then you've got about a quarter of a million variables!

The current mechanism for adding attributes is the best method possible to account for the uniqueness of each user's configurations.

Yes, I completely understand that the big gnarly interface allows for all of the wide ranging variables possible with attributes.

I wasn't saying that these "commonly used" attributes should be pre-defined in the shopping cart. I was saying that I want to define my own most commonly used attributes and then to be able to easily apply them as I'm inputting each product.

Each store owner would be able to go define their attributes and then add them as they input products and not have to take thirty extra steps to apply them for each and every product.

And, the whole extended interface would be there for anyone who needs it.

I'm really surprised nothing like this has been made as of yet.

Just imagine being able to simply select those attributes, which you've pre-defined, as you are inputting your product info. For those re-using the same few sets of attributes over and over again - this would shave untold hours off of the process!

As with many others who've developed modules for ZC (myself included) there's absolutely nothing stopping you from developing this interface yourself. I'm sure it will be very warmly received, so let us know when you're done!

Well Sir, (or 'mam as the case may be) if I were able to write such a an add-on to this amazing software, I wouldn't have been here in the forums asking if such a thing existed.

This post feels a bit combative, when I was only asking a question.

I wasn't being critical of ZC in the least. I was only trying to ask if there existed an ability to do what I was asking for.

The only possible way you could accomplish request
is to try using Easy Populate and enter many products
and attributes at once via .csv file rather than enter
    each manually via zencart admin..

I hope you didn't take offence to my rather facetious remarks - sorry...

Back in May 2005 (and under a different forum username) I asked a similar question about a payment module that I believe ought to have existed, but didn't.

At that stage I knew more about open heart surgery than I did about PHP, MySQL and HTML (and I'm just a simple van driver by trade).

Desperate for that payment module I had 2 choices:-

    1. Pay someone to write it.
    2. Learn how to do it myself.

In January 2007 I had learned enough to write the module, based on an existing ZC one. That module (Account Holders by Schoolboy) is now available in the Software AddOns section, and it has been downloaded fifteen hundred times by our fellow zencarters ....

...(if only I had a dollar for each download...)
