I'm just learning here, but each time I create a product, it takes over the content I have on my 'index.php' - if I remove the product (delete it) - my site goes back to normal.
How do I keep my product(s) on a product page and off my main page?!

In Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings, what values do you have for "Categories - Always Show on Main Page", "Main Page - Opens with Category" and "Skip 1-prod Categories"?

Change that true to false.
