Need to stop displaying tax at checkout

I have my store set up so that all prices are always show including tax (VAT).

Ath the checkout screen the cart shows the totals and then shows the tax component. All is correct but some customers are getting confused (or are a little dim) and think that this tax component is actually being added on to the cart total.

So, I want to either

1. Stop the Tax being shown in the checkout screen altogether

or

2. Alternatively, show the prodduct prices WITHOUT tax in the checkout screen (but show them WITH tax in the store) and still show the tax component.

Are either of the above possible? By the way, I still want to show the tax on the invoice (as required by UK law).

EDIT: I need to do the above for both steps 2 and 3 of the checkout procedure and I am using both worldpay and paypal express payment options.

At the moment my store shows and item inc vat .. example sticky tape - 4.99 - add 10 to my basket .. my subtotal at checkout shows : £49.90 then 15% VAT at £6.51 then the final total 49.90 again ..

Has anyone solved this issue anywhere ?

Sorry to bump this thread but I really really need some help with this. I have used the recover cart module to contact customers who abandoned carts and the overwhelming response has been that they didn't purchase because the checkout implies that vat will be added on as an extra. If they took the time to add it up they would see that isn't the issue but they just won't bother!

Any help please please please?

I seem to have solved the problem!

In admin go to Modules/Order Total and deselect "Tax" ! Does the trick!

If you do this, yes it removes the tax from the total box, but also complete uninstalls the module so your invoices and admin wont show the tax. Also my sales reports wont work out my tax.

I want to remove this line from the checkout process, as said above it makes it look like you are ADDING tax on to the total. If a customer adds up the figures they will see you are not, but it would be better to not show it.

It displays only what you typed in the configuration part of Admin!

Use this - bad HTML, but it will always work- in your ADMIN:TAXES:TAX RATES:
Where you had put in Taxable class, Zone = UK just the letters VAT or V.A.T., put this line below there instead:

This <font color='red'>already includes VAT</font> but <font color='red'>NOT</font> added again here ,
totalling

Then check out the result at the cart. I know our customers love dropping carts, but I think this will make it obvious to anyone.

If someone wants to improve my deprecated code, or my choice of phrase, do go ahead and post it here. (I know it should be a styled div, but I'm far too old to care!)

Hi,

Just add #ottax to your css and set display to none.
Perhaps you may want to change sub-total to sub-total incl. tax.
