Oh no not good - I have already run the fix cache utility - it said all was good.

    Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help so far

Are you running on a Linux server? Are you doing any mod re-writing?

Suggest you delete both 'config' files and re-upload.

yes, I agree. In fact it is advisable to do a completely new fresh install on the new server or folder and then simply copy your override files over to there to get your custom template back up.

Tried deleting and re-upping the same files - no good.

Tried deleting then re-editing back-ups of the old files and it worked! I must have had something wrong in there. Thanks so much for your help - that little / caused me alot of pain.

Duh! Hat's off to website Rob - can't believe I forgot that basic step.

The issue was probably that because those files are normally write-protected, many FTP programs simply don't over-write them with any changes you make.

You were telling us what you thought you'd put the changes, but until you actually deleted the files and re-uploaded them, the changes weren't actually getting there. I ssupect that you initial deletion and re-upping was of files that hadn't actually got the changes in.
