Default How to let <div> tag auto flow?

I'm trying to get a <div> tag auto flow across the browser in the style sheet... for the life of me I can't let it happen. I know how to repeat an image but how would I repeat a layer with a background to auto flow?

I'd like to have a blue line running across the body...

We need to see your site to answer this for your situation.

You won't get a div to repeat; you may be able to stretch it or use position properties to locate it as you want. The possibilities are too numerous to give a clear answer in the dark.

    .. as I thought...

You have to have an image inside a <div> to repeat itself... Thanks!

    ..ok, found a solution!

    set the width > 100%
left > 0px (if 'absolute' positioning)
