Category Button Has Dissapeared - Only The Add Product Button Is Showing?

Hi folks - using a clean install of zen 1.3.8a - so far so good

My question is this...

I have created all my new products in the TOP level - i.e. no categories which at first glance is ok.

I now though need to add some categories but there is no longer a button to choose categories only to add new products?

Anyone any ideas?

Do I have to delete all my products and start again this time with categories?

Note: A category can hold sub-categories or products, but not both at the same level.

My category button is gone too. My products are in the top level and it keeps giving me a warning, but no options for resolution. HELP! The tutorial suggestion was ridiculous, as there is no Category button to PUSH! Do I need to delete all my products so the system resets? That would be a huge pain. Options?

Backup your database first ...

After you have backed up your database, you can try to run this in the Tools ... Install SQL Patches ...

INSERT INTO categories (categories_id, categories_image, parent_id, sort_order, date_added, last_modified, categories_status) VALUES (1, '', 0, 1, '2009-11-06 00:00:00', '2009-11-06 00:00:00', 1);
INSERT INTO categories_description (categories_id, language_id, categories_name, categories_description) VALUES (1, 1, 'Test Category', 'Work around for missing categories');
UPDATE products_to_categories SET categories_id = 1;
UPDATE products SET master_categories_id = 1;

I appreciate your post. I was so frustrated at the whole thing that I reinstalled the Cart. I hadn't done much work to it yet, so it was the easier and faster route. I was able to upload much of the work I had already done.
