help question Is it possible for admins to manually create a new password for a customer?

One of my customer forgot her password. The "Forgot Your Password?" link seemed to work fine but she never received the new password (she has added my shop email address to her 'safe senders list' and checked her junk mail folder). She only has one email address so I assume she cannot create a new account with that same email address which already been registered.

Is there a way for admin to issue a new password manually?
I couldn't find any password info in the admin. I tried to create a new password for her directly from the MySQL database but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone knows if this is possible and how to do it?

    FYI, I'm on 1.3.8.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance.

Not a simple way from the admin, and from the DB level only if you understand the MD5 hash system and DB's in general.

Thanks - unfortunately I don't really understand DB. I just searched the customer ID up, found the password table and changed it manually but then it got encrypted and didn't work.

Do you know how to do it from Admin Panel then?

    Thanks,

you can find MD5 calculator online .. those simple calculator will convert whatever you feed it to MD5 , then just copy and past it in right filed in db ..

here is a link to one of them

help question Re: Is it possible for admins to manually create a new password for a customer?

Thanks so much - but it didn't seem to work. I'm not sure what I have done wrong. I tried these:

In the customer_password table, I chose MD5 from the drop down menu and then typed in the password (clear text) on the field next to it, then click Save (Go) and the resulting page showing the MD5 version (I compared it with the result from MD5 calculator). Then I tested the password, it didn't work.

Next I tried the other way around. I chose PASSWORD from the drop down menu and they pasted in the MD5 version of the password. Didn't work either...

What should I do? Thanks a lot in advance.

Zen Cart uses more than MD5 for encrypting passwords. So manually encrypting a password isn't as simple as running an MD5 generator.

In Zen Cart v2.0.0, you will have the option of manually setting the customer's password via the admin panel.
