category sidebox length

Is it possible to have the category side box the lengeth of my whole page? And is it possible to insert images and links into the box? website

tried 100% didnt work for height
works but i would like it to fit the page automatically, sidebox to the footer no matter what page it is on (it automatically adjust to the size of the page)....

I have tried Category Dressing, but all i am looking for is adding links and images to the category box below the links that are there now.
