Removing white space in left column

I wanted a rounded border around the left column like this site: http://delicate-delights.com/. Part of how they executed it was with an edit to the "tpl_main_page.php" to add the top and bottom part of the rounded background..

So after dissecting their site, I'm ALMOST there, but I've got a gap between the top image and the rest of the column.. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I need to do to close that gap... Nothing I've tried has worked.. Dunno what I am overlooking here.. Can any of the CSS gurus out there help??

BTW, please ignore the ugly logo.. It's being worked on as we speak..
