Implement CC mod or not?

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has any advice on this. I've had several occassions where customers took the time to create an account, but yet never completed the order. I keep on thinking it may be because at the moment I only offer PayPal and maybe they get annoyed at having to created another acccount to finalize their order. Although, I don't know this with any certaintly since I have not implemented a 'conversion statistic' program yet.

Anyway, my question is, do you think it would be worth accepting credit cards directly on my site? I initially went with paypal because 1. I thought they may be more economical since I'm a new business and want to keep my cost down &
2. I didn't want the liability of storing other peoples credit card information on my site.

I read about North American Merchants...wondering if that's good.

If you intend taking what are called "off-line" payments, you need to make sure that your web server is PCI compliant, and that your bank (who will clear the payments) is okay with you accepting card details this way.

There's a million words already on this forum - just search PCI compliance to get an idea of what's involved.

Statistics show that the easier it is to pay the more sales you make - accepting Credit Cards is part of that. Your customers want to be able to buy in a safe "familiar" environment. To accept credit cards you need a merchant account and a gateway. You can easily use one of the built-in modules as soon as you get your merchant account set up.
