    Default Column Layout Grid for Product Listing does not work

    Hello,

    Please help! I've followed the instructions that come with this add on and have read the posts, but nothing!

    My files are in the correct directory and they worked initially and then all of sudden, my products show in only one long column, NOT row. Also, the settings in admin are set to layout columns and the specified columns are 3.

    Any help on this would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Sandra

    Installed properly it works and it sounds like it did for you at first too. Knowing what has changed is impossible without seeing the site, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say your removed a key float style from the stylesheet.

    Agreed.

    Take a look at the common/tpl_columnar_display.php file...and anything else that you may have changed.

    It's probably either

    1) A stylesheet.css issue or

    2) You somehow messed up some for/next clause.

    If all else fails, reinstall it. It normally works great!

    BTW, if it's a stylesheet issue, it's normally pretty easy to diagnose. Just look at the source code of the page that's messed up, then look at the classes and IDs. From there, it's pretty straight forward.

    Good luck!

    Thanks so much for the tips. I've been trying to figure this out, but I can't seem to get anywhere. I looked at other websites that have the working grid and I noticed that my code is the same here:
    <div style="width: 32.5%;" class="centerBoxContentsProducts centeredContent back">

    But I don't have any styles specified for class centerBoxContentsProducts, which I thought would be contributing to the problem. Also, in using firebug on a working grid site, i noticed that the .back floats to the left and removing that float results in in the problem I'm having -- one long column. That's where I'm at this point. Any suggestions?

    Here's a link to one of the product listing pages:

    Thanks again,

    LOL! Congrats.

    It probably had to do with the stylesheet then. The "back" is what makes the layout work. Remove it, and it goes line-to-line-to-line. I remember seeing that myself once.

    Another tip...if you're tired of working with "back" and vertical alignment always seems messed up, remember to use

    <br class="clearBoth" />

    instead of

    <br>

    It will save you some frustration, as the first one does a full break to the next line rather than a partial break. It's hard to describe, but you'll see the difference if you experiment with it in conjunction with floats.

    Keep on chuggin!

    Does anyone know which tables the sql patch modifies? I installed it, it works fine on my product listing page... however, I'm not sure why, but now my category images/links on my Index Categories pages are not showing. I'd like to remove this add-on, but seems like the change that's messing w/ my categories pages is in the database. Or, if anyone knows why the categories part would be messed up I'd rather fix that than remove the add-on.

    This is supposed to display 1" Buttons sub-category, but doesn't...

    When I directly go to the 1" Buttons page, I can see that the Column Grid add-on is working...

    Sandra,

    How did you get the images to have so much separation between them? Mine are sitting on top of the row below, not overlapping, just no space between rows.

    Thanks,

    Disregard, I looked at the common/tpl_columnar_display.php file and added two more <br class="clearBoth" /> and it works fine. Now, if I can just figure out what to do about the distorted images on the product list page.

    Thanks,
    Sam Hughey
