I was wondering if it would be possible to use zencart to do what this site does http://www.etsy.com/ ?

Has anyone seen it done with zencart and where?

Basically I want users to subscribe and through their own accounts add products and sell. I am not sure how users receive their money once the items are sold. It would be real good if each user had their own paypal account and as the store owner I could charge per item listed as they are added or even better sold.

I am just curious if zencart can be used in similar way. Multi user - one shop owner

In short, no.

Zencart wasn't written to be a 'mall' type script, and I'd guess that writing a mod to make it behave like one would be nearly as difficult as writing one from scratch.

We are writing a site that allows users to post their templates for sale on our site. It can be done easily.
You write a script for them to submit products to a new table, you approve it then move that to the product table with appropriate cat id etc....
You allow them to track their sales via their account login, so you need a table to map products to each account, etc...

Not too hard, not too much of work. Dont over complicate it. Money goes to you first, you then send them their portion every X days. I guess the next part is to automate it.
