How to redirect customer to their account page from login?

When a customer logs in, the shop redirects him or her to the front page. How do I do it so that it goes straight into the My Account page? Or, if they are about to purchase a product, to the Shopping Cart?

If they have something in their cart, and click Checkout, it will take them to the login page. After they've logged in, it will automatically take them to the first stage of checkout, which is the next screen after the Shopping Cart page.

I Have a similar question as my 1.3.7 site takes you back to the https front page if you login to an exisiting account without anything in your cart.
I wish for the customer to go to the front page, but non https.
Where can i find that file to change?
